Many converted Epson printers still rely on carriage motors originally intended for photo printing, not the heavier duty cycles common in DTF production. During long print runs, those standard motors can heat up, lose efficiency, and cause the carriage to slow down. Over time, repeated overheating can also weaken the motor’s magnetic strength, reducing torque and making the slowdown more permanent. For a detailed datasheet supporting this, please visit Mabuchi Motor's website here. If this happens, you will find your printer prints slower and slower but doesn't error out.

To solve that problem, we designed this industrial high-torque CR motor specifically for DTF and other demanding converted-printer applications. Compared with standard carriage motors, this unit is built to handle longer continuous operation with better thermal stability and stronger pulling power. The internal winding design is optimized to reduce heat buildup during extended printing, helping the motor maintain steadier carriage speed and more consistent performance across long jobs.

This makes it a strong upgrade for users who notice that their printer starts normally, then gradually slows during production, or for those who want to prevent heat-related carriage motor fatigue before it turns into a long-term issue. It is especially well suited for DTF conversions, where the printer is often pushed far beyond the workload Epson originally intended for these carriage systems.

Key benefits

  • Higher torque for demanding DTF use
  • Better resistance to heat-related slowdown
  • More stable carriage movement during long print runs
  • More consistent print speed over time
  • Good fit for printer upgrades and rebuilt production units

Compatible with

  • Epson ET-8550
  • Epson L1800
  • Epson 1390
  • Epson ET-8500
  • And other Epson printers using a similar carriage motor configuration
