3-in-1 Gear Drive Kit for ET-8550 – Cam Holder Assembly, Transmission Slider / Change Gear Assembly, Capping Station Drive Gear
$39.99
This listing is for a 3-in-1 Drive Kit for the Epson ET-8550. The kit includes three related assemblies that work together to control how drive force is transferred between the paper-feed system, capping station, and paper-pickup mechanism.
The drive path changes according to the position and movement of the CR carriage.
Kit Includes
1. Cam Holder Assembly
The cam holder assembly uses a small detection notch to identify when the CR carriage is in the parking position. It helps position the transmission slider, also known as the change gear, so the printer can engage the correct drive function.
This assembly helps control whether the printer operates the capping-station cleaning mechanism or redirects power to the paper-feed system.
Includes:
-
1 cam cover
-
1 slider select gear
-
1 spring
2. Transmission Slider Assembly
The transmission slider, also called the change gear, determines whether drive force from the PF rod is transferred to the capping station.
When engaged, the slider moves into the capping-station drive position and allows the PF rod to operate the cleaning and maintenance mechanism.
Includes:
-
1 transmission slider
-
1 spring
3. Capping Station Drive Gear Assembly
The capping-station drive gear receives force from the PF rod and transfers it into the internal capping-station mechanism.
Includes:
-
1 capping-station drive gear
-
1 spring
How It Works
When the CR carriage moves to the right toward the parking position, it pushes the transmission slider to the right. The capping-station drive gear follows under spring tension and engages the capping-station mechanism.
This allows the PF rod to power capping-station functions such as cleaning, pumping, and raising or lowering the cap assembly.
When the CR carriage moves away from the parking position, the transmission slider and drive gear move back to the left. This disengages the capping station and redirects the drive force toward the paper-pickup mechanism.
The cam holder assembly helps control this shifting process and ensures the gears engage and mesh correctly.

Best thing ever!! i used to put cleaning solution in the capping station with a syringe/hose then had to suck out f the wast line with a syringe.... over and over until the capping station was clean. maybe up to 10 times. now i just use maybe 1 or 2 - 30ml syringes full of water and the pump cleans it out so good.... then I put capping solution, place printhead over capping station and turn on the back of the machine. thats it. when i print again, usually next day, I pull from waste tank a few times until I get ink, then i run 1 head cleaning , print a test strip and usually good to go. I sometimes print a 2nd test strip. SO MUCH easier to use this little pump. so glad I bought it.

TMS Printhead Maintenance System by BCH: Comprehensive Cleaning and Maintenance Solution
This is a must have modification to save time troubleshooting. You will need to download Kevin's capping station video to disassemble the capping station. A definite must. You will also need a few other connections to hook this up. All parts are linked in his videos. Pro tip. Have patience and go slow. This modification will save you from a lot of headaches . I did this mod on Procolored L1800 about a year old . Thanks Kevin.
