041B Printhead Driver Chip – QFN28 (Single Chip)

For Epson Printhead Power & Nozzle Control

The 041B printhead driver chip is the central control IC used in many newer Epson printer models, including the ET-8550 and XP-15000 series. This IC is responsible for managing the printhead firing signals, ink delivery timing, and precise nozzle activation.

This listing is for one (1) 041B driver IC in the standard QFN28 format used on Epson mainboards.

Compatible Models

The 041B is commonly found in multiple newer Epson machines, including but not limited to:

  • ET-8550 / ET-8500 series

  • XP-15000 / XP-15010 / XP-15080 series

Both the ET-8550 and XP-15000 use two separate 041B driver chips, typically labeled on the board as:

  • IC800/ IC80

  • IC801/IC81

If you’re repairing one of these models, confirm the chip location before ordering.

Product Highlights

Precise Printhead Control
Responsible for controlling the firing pulses that activate the printhead nozzles, ensuring proper ink delivery.
QFN28 Package
Compact 28-pin, no-lead design that fits directly on the printer’s mainboard.
Optimized Printhead Performance
Helps regulate nozzle firing, timing control, and ink flow behavior.
Stable Communication
Ensures reliable signal transfer between the mainboard and the printhead for consistent print results.
Direct Replacement for Damaged or Faulty Chips
If your printer shows misfiring, missing colors, or complete print dropout, a failing 041B driver chip is a common cause.

Description

The 041B printhead driver chip is the key controller for Epson printhead operation. It handles the high-speed signals that trigger nozzle firing, manages the power sent to the printhead, and ensures accurate ink placement during printing.

This chip is essential when restoring printers with:

  • Random nozzle failures

  • Missing colors

  • Printhead that fires only partially

  • Total loss of print output due to driver failure

Replacing a damaged 041B helps restore proper printhead performance and can prevent further mainboard or printhead damage.

⚠️ Installation Caution

This chip must be mounted at temperatures under 300°C. Exceeding 300°C directly with hot air can internally destroy the chip
QFN packages can be damaged by excessive heat, leading to internal failure or board delamination. Always use controlled soldering equipment (hot air, reflow, or preheater) and avoid overheating the surrounding components.

Most QFN chips—including printhead driver ICs—are designed for a maximum peak reflow temperature of 245–260°C.

  • Lead-free (RoHS) reflow: 245–260°C peak

  • Duration at peak: 10–30 seconds max

  • Preheat zone: 120–180°C

  • Soak zone: 180–200°C

Package Includes
