Epson Artisan 1430 OEM Chip on a Refillable Cartridge: Can It Prevent Empty-Ink Interruptions?
Question:
Can I move the OEM cartridge chip from an Epson Artisan 1430 to a refillable cartridge and reset that chip instead of using an auto-reset chip (ARC)? I want to avoid cartridges reporting empty at different times, automatic cleaning during resets, and a print job stopping mid-page during DTF or DTG work.
Answer:
Thank you for contacting BCH Technologies. We are sorry we could not answer sooner. Printer problems are often urgent, and we want to give each question careful thought and a detailed answer. Thank you as well for supporting BCH Technologies and the BCH Technologies YouTube channel.
A chip transfer may be physically possible if the OEM chip fits the refillable cartridge's chip mount, its contacts line up correctly, and a resetter supports that exact chip. Check the cartridge part number and resetter compatibility first. A successful transfer is not guaranteed: the printer may reject the chip, and moving it will not make its reported ink level match the ink actually inside the cartridge. Do not force the chip or touch or damage its electrical contacts.
The interruptions you describe are understandable, especially when a DTF or DTG print uses costly media. Resetting a chip and replacing a cartridge are different from clearing a printhead clog. Epson's Artisan 1430 instructions say the printer charges ink after a cartridge replacement; changing the chip alone cannot promise that the printer will skip its normal ink-handling steps or finish a job after a cartridge reports empty. Epson also cautions that a low or expended cartridge removed from the printer may not be reusable, so confirm the exact OEM chip can be reset before relying on this approach. See the Epson Artisan 1430 cartridge instructions [https://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/pho143w/pho143wug/source/printers/source/ink_functions/tasks/art1430_sp1430w/removing_installing_cartridges_art1430_sp1430w.html].
Before starting a long print, verify that every cartridge contains enough ink, confirm that the printer recognizes each chip, and test the resetter and cartridge combination on a short print. Do not continue printing when a cartridge may be dry; that can compromise ink delivery and printhead performance. If a cartridge is repeatedly rejected or a print job still stops, check the cartridge and chip fit and the resetter's compatibility before treating the behavior as a printhead fault. The number of times a particular OEM chip can be reset is not established by the information in this ticket, so do not plan around a specific reset lifespan.
For additional demonstrations, search the BCH Technologies YouTube channel [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies] for "Artisan 1430 cartridge chip," "chip resetter," or "refillable cartridge." If the printer still cannot recognize a correctly matched cartridge, or you suspect damage to the chip contacts or electronics, contact BCH Technologies about its printer repair service [https://bchtechnologies.com/collections/printer-repair-service] before replacing parts.
