How to Resolve Epson ET-2803 Error Code 031004: Head Temperature Error

Question: I have been watching your videos trying to fix my new Epson Ecotank 2803 "Error Code "-031004". According to all information I have found this error is because the head temperature, then I checked BCH Technologies site and confirmed that. Error Code 031004 —Head temperature error for Epson ET-2803 printer This is a not very uncommon issue with the Epson ET series which can come from unhealthy print head or mainboard problem.

How it works: You turn on the printer which sends your printhead's thermistor a pulse. The printer considers the printhead to be overheating if the voltage is indicating that such a high temperature. Mean time the printhead is not working because of short or internal issues may occur.

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check Printhead: This error usually indicates that the printhead is going bad. When this happens, the service life of them is at its end and you will have to change it. This is something that must be addressed immediately to prevent it from getting worse.

FFC Check: Inspect the FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) that connects to the printhead while replacing a stylus. Check for burn marks, tears or other damages. If you see something looks like the FFC, be replaced.

Mainboard Inspection: The error may be on the mainboard if you replaced printhead and FFC, is checked but still showing that same issue. Make sure to check for the bad fuses and capacitors in particular. A bad one down here could cause there to be trouble with the way that the printhead works, bringing up this error code.
