How to Address Printhead Issues and as a New DTF Owner and Maintain Your DTF Printer Effectively

Question: I have seen a video in your channel on how to clean the printhead and I did it but nothing has changed. Until I had to leave for a few days, my printer worked like a charm and that over four weeks. It does all this & then on returning I find the cleaning liquid i use to clean the print head isn't coming out of those channels, it’s leaking from off at one side. What is more probable, the fact that it may be clogged or does this mean the print head has a problem? This printer is critical to my business, it needs to work. How can I fix this?

Looks like you are dealing with an old DTF problem that white ink coagulation. High exposure to air flow thickens the white inks and causes clogs phenomena within system. The white ink will coagulate within 15 minutes. A trip for few days certainly will clog it without any prevention procedures. To prevent this problem, keep the printhead in a damp environment. Users mostly use a humidifier to keep the room humidity >50% .

The location of the clogs is key to knowing how best to tackle them. If the clog is in the manifold, you could make things worst by forcing cleaning solutions into an already compromised printhead. Chemicals, on the other hand should be avoided unless absolutely necessary as they can end up doing more harm than good. Normally, blockages on the manifold can be sorted by smoothly removing ink backwards. If you see the ink moving, then the nozzle are open. Otherwise, you can always take it completely apart and clean is section by section. Step by Step Guide Video For This Process

If liquid is leaking out the sides of your printhead when you do the testing, then it would appear that you pressed too aggressively and broke the rubber gasket. This in turn may cause more problems, including the need to replace a printhead which sooner or later will not be salvageable. So whatever the case may be, it is very important to avoid reinstallation of your printhead or you will short out the mainboard on your printer.

Starting out in the DTF printing game, you can buy transfers from sellers who already sell on platforms such as Facebook Marketplace or Etsy before purchasing a complete printer. After 4-5 orders/day on a consistent basis, you will be able to buy the printer and dryer. You can do as the first video to keep your printer idle up for 2-3 days, as short-term solutions. You will need to add  wetter solution in the capping station if leaving for longer periods or arranging someone to tend printer while you are away.
