Question:
My Epson ET-2720 pulls a sheet halfway in or nearly halfway out, then reports a rear feeder paper jam. The sheet can be stuck halfway inside and halfway out the front. I opened the printer but did not see an obvious obstruction. What could cause this, and would a video help?
Answer:
Thank you for contacting BCH Technologies. I am sorry for the delayed reply. Paper feed problems can stop urgent printing, and we want to give you a careful, detailed answer. Thank you for supporting BCH and our YouTube channel.
A sheet that advances partway and then stops on an ET-2720 does not by itself prove that a sensor is bad. A tiny paper scrap, skewed media, a slipping or damaged feed roller, a binding feed mechanism, or a paper-position sensing problem can produce similar symptoms. The suggestion that ink has blocked a PW sensor is a possibility to assess during service, not a confirmed explanation from the behavior you described.
Turn the printer off and unplug it. Remove the sheet gently in the direction of the normal paper path if it comes free without force. Check the accessible rear feeder, output area, and other user-openable paper paths for scraps, labels, or foreign material. Do not force gears or the carriage, and avoid touching an encoder strip or any small sensor flag. Load a small stack of clean, supported plain paper, align the guides without squeezing the sheets, and try one normal print. If the problem happens with only one paper type, check the media settings and condition of that paper.
Note exactly where the sheet's leading edge stops, whether it skews, and the full message on the screen. A short video of one attempt may help a technician compare pickup, feed, and exit timing. Share it privately with the exact ET-2720 model and without any visible personal details. Repeated attempts that crumple paper can create new scraps and make the original fault harder to find.
If the fault persists with plain paper and a clear accessible path, a technician can inspect the rollers, feed drive, and model-specific paper sensors, including whether ink contamination is actually present. Cleaning or replacing a sensor or feed part should follow that inspection; replacing parts by guesswork is unlikely to be efficient. BCH can also review your video and advise whether repair service is appropriate.
