Question:
Hi Kevin! I love your videos and am trying to set up my Epson ET-8550 for DTF printing. Can I use the same setup shown in your video, or is it specific to the printer you demonstrated? Also, does the cleaning fluid go into the waste tank?
Answer:
The Epson ET-8550 is compatible with a similar DTF setup, as demonstrated in our videos. At BCH Technologies, we use a PMA (Printhead Management Assembly) system for these setups. The PMA system is designed to streamline printhead cleaning, making the process almost effortless. With this system, cleaning fluid isn’t typically required for maintenance because the PMA allows you to clean the printhead effectively without introducing additional solutions. This setup is efficient and saves time, especially when managing the ET-8550 for DTF printing.
As for your second question, cleaning fluid is not intended to go into the waste tank. Waste tanks are designed to collect excess ink and residue during regular operation or flushing cycles, not cleaning fluids. If you decide to use a cleaning solution for more intensive maintenance, it should be directed through the proper cleaning pathways or a manual cleaning tool. This ensures your waste tank doesn’t overflow or clog prematurely, which can lead to additional issues down the road.
Addressing printer issues and setups can be intricate, often requiring hands-on intervention. Unfortunately, we cannot provide remote troubleshooting or step-by-step assistance for specific printer configurations. However, we offer in-person evaluations and repairs at our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Please note that our services operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and it may take a few weeks to schedule your drop-off due to high demand.
