Question:
Why does my Epson XP-4105 jam paper halfway through printing only when I select High Quality mode, and what should I check?

Thank you for contacting BCH Technologies. We are sorry we could not answer sooner. Printer issues are often urgent, but we want to give each question careful thought and provide a detailed answer. Thank you for supporting BCH Technologies and the BCH Technologies YouTube channel.

A jam that happens only in High Quality mode is a useful clue, but it does not identify a failed part by itself. The printer may handle the page differently under that setting, or the extra printing time may make a marginal feed, guide, or sensor problem more noticeable. Start with a simple comparison rather than repeatedly printing a long job.

Use one fresh, flat sheet of paper that is supported by the XP-4105. In the driver, confirm that the paper size and type match the loaded sheet. Print the same short document once in Standard and once in High Quality. For this test, turn off borderless and two-sided printing and load the sheet squarely with the guides touching the edges without squeezing them. If the jam occurs only with a particular paper type or size, test plain paper next.

Turn the printer off and unplug it before inspecting the paper path. Remove scraps, curled paper, labels, or other obstructions you can reach without forcing parts. Check whether the rollers are visibly dirty or worn and whether the sheet catches at the same point. Do not pull hard on a stuck sheet or reach into the mechanism while it is powered. If the paper moves through but the printer reports a jam, a feed sensor or drive fault may need diagnosis; if it physically buckles or stops, the catch point helps narrow the mechanical area.

Avoid assuming that High Quality mode itself is the cause or replacing rollers before checking paper type, loading, and the location of the stop. If the symptom persists with supported plain paper and correct settings, stop repeated tests to avoid tearing paper or stressing the feed mechanism.
