Solving the Epson XP-15000 036006 Error

Question:

I’ve converted my Epson XP15000 to DTF, but now I’m encountering the 031006 error code. Once this issue is resolved, I would appreciate your help in getting it to print DTF properly, as I’m currently getting blank prints. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Answer:

Many people who use the Epson XP-15000 have probably run into a wall at some point or other with error code 031006 — especially when converting to DTF (Direct-to-Film). This error is usually generated by a failure at the printhead or its dependencies. It normally indicates that an F1 fuse on the mainboard has burned.

Check the Printhead FFC Cable

First, turn off your printer and unplug it from the main power.

You can open the printer cover carefully to gain access to the printhead area.

Examine the FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) connecting the printhead and the mainboard for signs of wear, dehydration, or blockage.

If there is damage to the cable, it must be replaced.

Replace printhead and FFC Cable.

If you have also ordered a new printhead and FFC cable, it would be best to replace these components simultaneously. Using the old and possibly broken FFC cable in a brand-new printhead can once again destroy the fresh printhead.

To replace the FFC cable:

Unplug the broken FFC cable from both the printhead and the mainboard.

Gently connect the new FFC cable, making sure it is properly connected.

Now, close the printer cover and turn on the printer to see if the error code is fixed.

Consider the Mainboard:

If error 031006 stays with the printer after replacing the Printhead AND FFC Cable, the mainboard may be at fault. The original printhead failed, resulting in a burned F1 fuse on the mainboard.

Protecting Your Printhead:

Whether you want this for your Epson XP-15000 before or after the DTF transformation, there are numerous options to prevent any further issues.

Printhead Cover: If you are not using printheads, you should put a cover on them, which will protect them from dust and the environment. Eventually, this will also increase their life. Get a suitable cover at Printhead Protector Cover [https://bchtechnologies.com/printhead-protector-cover-guard-v2-for-waterproof-xp-15000-series-xp-8500-xp-8600-version-2/].

Keep the Environment Around the Printhead Dry: We do not advise opening your printer to water; however, maintaining the printhead location dry and clean will prevent dampness-related problems.
