Greetings,
Question:
My TS7450i printer had an issue a few days after running out of ink. I changed the ink cartridge, and the problem happened again. The printer has not yet returned to functional status. Can you help me, please?
Answer:
Thank you for contacting us, and I'm sorry to see that your TS7450i printer is still having issues despite replacing the ink cartridge. I understand how frustrating printer issues are, especially when you have followed the basic steps. As you may know, we at BCH Technologies are grateful for your continued support, primarily through our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). Your feedback is vital for improving our technical knowledge, and we're glad to assist you in resolving the problem in detail.
Possible Causes and Solutions
There are no more strains than the printer not working after running dry and the ink is replaced. Here are some common causes and how to troubleshoot them:
Air Bubbles in the Ink System:
- When you change the cartridge, air bubbles might also sneak into the ink system, preventing life-giving ink from flowing to the Printhead. These bubbles can compromise the steady ink flow and lead to printing problems.
- Solution: To remove the air from the ink tubes, you might have to prime the Printhead or run a cleaning cycle.
Clogged Nozzles or Printhead:
- Ink residue or debris can clog the nozzles, particularly if the printer is left unused after the ink runs out. This is a typical problem when the printer has been inactive for a period, which causes the ink to dry out inside the nozzles.
- Solution: As mentioned earlier, you can run a nozzle check using your printer's maintenance menu to see if any colors are affected. Then, follow up with a printhead cleaning cycle to eliminate clogs.
Cartridge Recognition Issues:
- Sometimes, the printer doesn't recognize the new or refilled cartridge, especially a third-party brand.
- Solution: Make sure the cartridge is correctly seated and that no tape is blocking the ink outlet, which could stop the flow. If you're using a refilled cartridge, could you check that it's in place and not overfilled?
Ink Supply or Flow Problems:
- If the cartridge isn't seated correctly or the seal is damaged, ink flow may be disrupted, causing your printer to act up.
- How to Fix It: Reseat the cartridge, remove it, and put it back in place. Inspect for blockages or problems with the cartridge venting system.
Priming the Printhead (if needed):
- If cleaning cycles fail to help, you must prime the Printhead manually. That can help suck ink through the nozzles and clear air or clogs.
- Solution: Carefully pull the ink back through the nozzles using a syringe and tubing. This can be especially useful if air has been trapped in the ink lines.
Update the printer firmware and drivers:
- Outdated firmware or drivers can create operational issues, sometimes after installing a new cartridge.
- Fix: Ensure that your printer's firmware and drivers are current. Visit the manufacturer's website to look for updates.
Print Test with OEM Ink Cartridges (Optional):
- If they are using third-party ink cartridges, the cartridges and the printer may not be 100% compatible.
- Solution: Install a set of original manufacturer (OEM) ink cartridges to eliminate compatibility concerns.
In-Person Support
If the troubleshooting tips mentioned above didn't work out to solve the issue, it may require better inspection. Printer issues can be interconnected, and you may need to look more holistically at the system. The only thing we don't have is our local diagnostic facility, where we do in-person evaluations and repairs. Read more about our service here (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service)
Due to demand, we operate on a first-in-first-out basis. Hence, it will likely be a few weeks before we can look at your printer! Although we can service specific components or entire printers (and we charge for it), we might not be the most budget-friendly option. So, we recommend that you search online for self-help options or check out your YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies) for relevant videos and help guidance.
Thank you again for getting in touch. After you try these steps, feel free to let us know how it works. We're here to help you through each step of the process!
