Question:
My printer won’t print. I've replaced the dampers and hoses, cleaned out the printhead, and cleaned the hose for the waste ink. The printer starts to move, but no ink is being printed. Would I need to purchase a new cable? What else can I try?
Answer:
Thank you for contacting us. We are genuinely sorry for responding late. Printer bugs can be annoying, and we know well how that feels, especially when the printer seems to work on mechanics but does not print. BCH Technologies, therefore, strives to offer you the most comprehensive and detailed troubleshooting steps. Thanks, especially for our YouTube channel https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies, which grows your engagement and goes a long way in helping us expand our expertise.
Here are some reasons your printer is moving but not printing and how to fix them.
F1 Fuse on the Mainboard
If you’ve already checked those, the most common source of this problem is a blown F1 fuse on the printer mainboard. If this fuse is blown, the printer will still perform mechanical movements, and ink will flow during cleaning cycles, but the correct printhead won’t discharge any ink onto the paper. If the F1 fuse was terrible, it could cause the problem.
Clogged Printhead
Note that even if your nozzle check looks fine, a partly blocked printhead can still lead to things printing blank. Dried ink can eventually cause clogs when left on the nozzles for long periods. For a more thorough cleanse, use a printhead cleaning kit. If you think there is a blockage, carefully inspect the printhead for dried ink and flush the nozzles gently.
Clogged Capping Station
Capping station: Keeping the printhead hydrated when not in use is important. If it clogs, it will not make a good suction during cleaning cycles and will not allow the ink to reach the printer head. Cleaning the capping station (making sure that it has no dried ink) will help it return to normal operation.
FFC Cable Connection Issues
Flat flexible cable (FFC) that connects the printhead to the mainboard. When this cable is damaged or improperly connected, the printhead cannot receive the signals needed to print. Could you confirm that the FFC cable is fully seated on both ends and check it for any signs of damage?
Damaged Printhead Membrane
An unresponsive or burnt printhead membrane due to lack of use, excessive cleaning cycles, or improper handling. When the membrane is cracked or delaminated, the printhead will not work correctly, and the prints will be blank. If you suspect membrane damage, you may need to replace the printhead.
Heavy Ink Usage Charge or Power Cleaning
Using Ink Charge or Power Cleaning too frequently puts more strain on the printer's internal parts than helping them. You can use these functions in moderation, with at least 12 hours between usages. Excessive cleaning cycles can permanently damage your printhead and internal components.
With how hands-on printer problems can be, troubleshooting printer problems can get complicated. (Note: The repair technician must handle remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or printer repairs. However, we provide an in-house assessment and repair service at our local diagnostic workshop, which can be explored further here (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Because of the volume of printers we get, the repair service lines are done on a first-come, first-served basis, so it may take several weeks before a drop-off can be scheduled. From these, we will offer entire printers or parts to repair and what to do in these situations. We know our rates may not be the most affordable for you, so we recommend self-help with help from online resources when possible.

To locate specific videos related to your problem, utilize the search function next to the word “About” on the right side of the menu bar. Of course, with around a decade's worth of content out there, searching directly on YouTube should pull up quicker responses, and it might recommend other sources that have made worthwhile videos. Once again, thank you for your involvement and support. We hope this guide will help you solve your printer problem.
