Question:
I've been trying to troubleshoot a slamming print carriage and have found a piece I can't locate where to reinstall. I know it's near the capping station, specifically on the right-hand side, but I suspect the slamming noise occurs because the print carriage isn't leveled correctly.
Answer:
Thanks for contacting us about this issue! First, I want to apologize for this late response to your question. Printer issues can be significantly frustrating when interrupting essential projects. At BCH Technologies, we take every inquiry seriously and do our best to provide a thorough answer. Now, on to your banging print carriage and the unknown piece:
You've identified part of the printer's capping station mechanism. Capping station specifically—this piece belongs under there. You can find it on the left-hand side of the capping station if you flip it over. It applies some downward pressure onto the primary drive gear of the capping station. When this component is not present or out of alignment, the print carriage may not correctly level, slamming against the housing during operation.
To resolve this issue:
Find the Part's Location: Look up under the capping station. Find grooves or indentations where the piece may fit. It should fit closely and securely.
Install the Piece: If you can locate the culprit, please reinstall the part in question, making sure it's adequately seated and doesn't hinder the movement of other pieces.
Test the Carriage Movement: Move the print carriage manually to ensure it moves smoothly without any blockage. The carriage must align evenly across the print area.
Inspect for More Misalignment: If slamming continues, after reinstalling the piece, check the carriage rails for any debris or wear and ensure the capping station's drive gear is working correctly.

Printer Problems can be tricky to deal with because of the all-in or no-in issues that can commonly arise. So, we cannot offer advice, suggestions, or support for printer repairs or troubleshooting remotely. This means that repairs are only carried out at our local diagnostic station (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service) using an in-person diagnostic service performed on a first-in, first-out basis. So, we may not be able to get your printer to drop it off for a few weeks. We explain how to repair a whole one or what steps to take to restore a portion of the printer. But we realize that our rates aren't the cheapest. So we highly recommend that you turn to self-help over researching online.
