Replace Printhead for HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 Series: 8010 8012 8014 8015 8018 8020 8022 8024 8025 8028 8028 8035

Today we're going to show you how to replace the printhead for HP OfficeJet Pro. It's 8000 series, so it's either the 8022, 8028, 8025, or check the table 1. They are the same thing. You can see this is 8028. The only difference from the 8022 is that their scanner's color a little bit different. HP uses a particular driver bit. You can search the internet for T-10, and you want to get a longer, pretty long one. If you don't have those screwdrivers and you'd like to look around, you can directly go to www.bchtechnologies.com and search for a screwdriver. Those two are the same thing, and it's just one of them has a handle. You're probably going to need the I6 screwdriver bit later when you do the internal parts, but today, we're going to use a T-10.

We're going to remove a total of eight screws from the top. If you can't find the eighth one, you can lift the cover a little bit, and you're going to find that where the eighth is. It's hiding right here. Now, we're going to work on this scanner hinge. Use a screwdriver to push it forward towards the front of the printer. It should come out pretty quickly. Now, the scanner can fall backward, so we use another printer to stop it. On the back, you're going to see there are four screws in a row. The cover can be lifted, but we don't want to do it right now. There are two cables on the left side. We don't want to disconnect those cables. Just keep those cables there, and we can work on the right side. Keep the left side on and lift the right side and stick a screwdriver underneath.

Now, I can see two big springs. We're going to remove those. Now is an excellent time to put your safety glasses on, it might hit your eye when you remove them. I don't want a loss of viewers because they are blind. You can use a long nose as a plier to this, but if you have a piece of steel wire that you can make a jig or a coat hanger or something, it's better to make a jig. Use the jig to hook it and use your finger to push it to the right side, and the thing comes off easily. It's easy to lose after I remove it. Put it somewhere safe. It will be hard to find it at your home or on that BCH website. Okay, let me try to find it. We go to printer parts and HP. Oh, there it is. It belongs to printhead carriage. Here they are. We sell them in pairs. Again, hook, push to the right, remove. Now, I can lift the printhead and disconnect those cables. Now, I shoot from the left side so that you can have a better view. You don't need any special tools to put those cables in. Just press evenly, and it should go in pretty quickly.

This is what it looks like after it's done. Now, we need to worry about this cable. This is a timing encoder strip. It should sit on the sensor like this. Let me give you a better example. This is the sensor. It has a base, and then it has top parts, right at the encoder. This encoder belt should go through the center just like this. Tuck it in. Now, use your jig to pull it all the way, and then you kind of twist it, and it will lock itself in. Oops. Again, pull it all the way and then twist.

The rest is easy. Put the four screws in the back, and then eight screws on top and close the scanner.
