Question
I have a Colorsun 1390 DTF printer, and I recently replaced all the parts. However, after turning it back on, I encountered an error code 0x71 (or 71h). I noticed that the APG motor in my printer did not have wires connected or sensors attached. There is a cable running from CN3 on the control board to the motherboard, connecting to CN9 and CN3. I am unsure how it was bypassed, and despite searching the internet, I haven't found a clear solution. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Answer
Regarding your issue with the Colorsun 1390 DTF printer, encountering error code 0x71 (or 71h) typically indicates a problem related to the APG motor or its wiring. The APG motor is responsible for moving the printhead assembly or performing paper feed tasks. However, some DTF printer models, especially those modified for direct-to-film printing, may have the APG motor bypassed entirely.
Possible Causes and Fixes:
-
Incorrect Wiring: One common issue when replacing parts is wiring the FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) incorrectly. It is crucial to double-check the wiring connections and ensure they match the original setup. Always take pictures before unplugging or re-plugging any component for reference.
-
Overwritten or Malfunctioning Board: Some Colorsun models come with an overwrite board that can malfunction or be incompatible with your current configuration. If your overwrite board resembles the one shown in our product guide (https://bchtechnologies.com/products/wiring-diagram-for-epson-1390-c655-main-mainboard-colorsun-board-as-in-the-picture?_pos=1&_sid=1e5e6888e&_ss=r), download the picture and compare it with your setup. Any mismatch may indicate that the overwrite board is either incompatible or improperly installed.
-
Bypassed APG Motor: In some modified printers, the APG motor is bypassed entirely. You may need to trace the wiring from the control board to the motherboard, specifically checking connections at CN3 and CN9. If the motor is intentionally bypassed, it may not cause an error unless the board expects a signal that it does not receive due to faulty wiring.
