Question:
I have a Pro Colored A4 L805 DTF printer, and after attempting a nozzle check, I experienced a paper jam. My computer instructed me to turn off the printer, remove the jam, and restart the printer. After removing the jam, my printer will not power on. The Power reaches the printer, and the temperature adjustment and auto-vibration functions work, but the panel where the power button is located isn’t lit up. Holding the power button only causes the paper feed button to blink dimly. I’ve checked all the cables, and they appear fine. There are no red blinking lights, only green lights inside the printer. Can you help diagnose the issue?
Answer:
Thank you for contacting us! We sincerely apologize for the delayed response. We understand that printer issues are always urgent and appreciate your patience. At BCH Technologies, we provide thoughtful and detailed responses to ensure the best possible outcome. We also want to express our gratitude for your engagement and support, especially on our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). Your feedback is invaluable in helping us enhance our technical expertise.
Now, let's troubleshoot your issue. The printer has two primary components: the printer itself and the ink system, which includes the mixer stirrer, white ink circulation, and, in some cases, a thermal heater or vacuum platform. The main switch at the back controls power for the printer and the ink system.
Possible Causes and Fixes
1. Check the Power Supply and Connections
Since the temperature adjustment and auto-vibration functions work, power reaches the printer. However, since the power button panel is unresponsive, the issue may lie in the secondary power board or a loose cable connection.
-
Power Cable & Adapter:
-
Ensure the power cord is securely connected to the printer and the wall outlet.
-
Try a different outlet to rule out voltage fluctuations.
-
If using a surge protector, plug the printer into the wall outlet to check for issues.
-
-
Mainboard to Front Panel Connection:
-
The power button panel is connected to the mainboard via a ribbon cable.
-
Open the printer and re-seat the ribbon cable connecting the power button panel to the mainboard.
-
2. Check for a Power Button Failure
If holding the power button causes the paper feed button to blink dimly, it may be inaccurate.
-
To test this:
-
Try manually shorting the power button's connection on the panel.
-
If the printer responds, the power button or panel may need replacement.
-
3. Inspect the Printer for a Short Circuit
A paper jam can sometimes cause an electrical fault, mainly if ink buildup is inside the printer.
-
Open the printer and check the mainboard for visible signs of damage, such as burn marks, corrosion, or ink spills.
-
Inspect the fuse on the mainboard—if it’s blown, the printer won’t power on.
4. Perform a Hard Reset
-
Unplug the printer from power.
-
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge residual energy.
-
Reconnect the power and try turning the printer on again.
5. Possible Mainboard Issue
Since no red error lights are flashing, the problem may stem from a failure in the mainboard’s power management circuit. If none of the above steps resolve the issue, the mainboard may need to be repaired or replaced.
Addressing printer issues can be a complicated affair due to the hands-on nature of the problems. So, we cannot provide remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or support for printer repairs. We offer an in-person evaluation and repair service via our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Given the high demand, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so it might take a few weeks for your printer to drop off. Our services are structured to repair a whole printer or specific parts, with clear instructions on how to proceed. However, we acknowledge that our rates aren’t the most economical. Thus, we highly recommend that you resort to self-help via online research. You can start by checking out YouTube or visiting our YouTube channel’s homepage (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). Look for specific videos using the search icon next to “About” on the right-hand side of the menu bar. We receive dozens of queries every day asking about videos for specific topics. Having created videos over the past nine years, it’s challenging to remember every single one. Therefore, using YouTube’s search function would be most efficient. Plus, YouTube might suggest relevant videos from other channels that could assist you.
