Question:
I accidentally pulled out the scanner glass on my Epson EcoTank and had a mini panic moment. My fiancé broke the glass on our original printer and bought a second-hand model to replace it. Can we swap the entire scanner assembly between the two printers? The new printer also has ink issues, and I’m curious if replacing the scanner will help.
Answer:
You will find that most printers in the same series share the same mainboard and scanner configurations among desktop Epson EcoTank printer models, for example. That should allow, for example, the scanner assembly for two units of the same type to swap without trouble. If so, be sure that you are careful when doing the substitute and that you go over each and every relationship throughout the entire process, to avoid free or ruined components.
That being said, the scanner assembly itself won’t tamper with the printer’s ink system. If the replacement unit you bought has issues with the ink itself, you will have to troubleshoot the ink system separately. Dried felts, air bubbles in the ink lines, clogged printheads, poorly seated ink tanks, among other common problems. If you need help addressing these problems, I suggest watching videos on our Youtube channel [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies], where we have covered various forms of troubleshooting.
Printer issues can be much of a headache as the issues are very hands-on oriented. So unfortunately, we won’t be able to offer remote troubleshooting, advice or printer repair support. We do have a local diagnostic service [https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service] for local pick up and receipt of the printer, and we do have very high demand so work on a first come first serve basis. Well, it may take you weeks before you fly your printer out to drop it off.
We have two types of services: you can repair your entire printer, or you can get instructions on how to repair specific parties. However, we also understand that our rates aren't the cheapest. So we definitely encourage you to go do some Google-ing self-help. The YouTube channel's homepage [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies] is a great place to start, and don't forget about the search icon, too, where you can look in specific. Alternatively, you may find other related videos that have been recommended by our channel which might help you, or someone else.
