HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e Missing Cyan: Printhead Clogging, Cleaning Solution Compatibility, and Repair Options

Question
I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e that has had a persistent cyan printing problem. I watched your YouTube video about fixing missing colors on HP OfficeJet Pro printers, and it was very helpful.
Originally, the printer was not producing cyan at all. Anything that should have appeared blue was printing pink or magenta instead. The printer still showed plenty of ink in the cyan cartridge.
So far, I have tried the following:

Running the printer's built-in printhead cleaning function more than a dozen times.

Running three consecutive cleaning cycles to reach the printer's deeper cleaning level.

Allowing the printer to rest between cleaning attempts before testing again.

Removing and reseating the cyan cartridge.

Confirming that ink can flow from the cyan cartridge.
-
Cleaning the gold electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.

Printing numerous test and cleaning pages.
After cleaning the contacts and performing the deeper cleaning cycles, there was a noticeable improvement. Cyan was originally completely absent, but it has now started printing again. The printer can produce some blue and green, which suggests that the cyan channel is still functioning. However, there is still significant horizontal banding and missing cyan in portions of the print, so blue areas continue to have a strong magenta or pink cast.
I would like to try a more thorough manual or professional printhead cleaning method similar to the one shown in your video, but I did not see the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e specifically listed as compatible with the cleaning solution on your website.
Could you please advise:

What the Cyan Improvement Tells Us
The fact that cyan changed from being completely absent to partially printing is an important observation.
When there was no cyan at all, several possibilities could have been responsible, including:

A severely clogged group of cyan nozzles.

Restricted ink flow between the cartridge and printhead.
-
Dried ink inside the printhead's cyan ink channel.
-
Air trapped somewhere in the cyan ink path.
-
Poor electrical contact between the cartridge, printhead, and printer.
-
A problem with the cartridge's ink delivery or venting system.
-
Electrical or physical damage to the cyan portion of the printhead.
Because cyan began printing again after the contacts were cleaned and additional cleaning cycles were performed, we know that at least some of the cyan nozzles are currently capable of firing.
That is more encouraging than a situation where repeated cleaning produces absolutely no change.
However, it does not necessarily mean that the printhead can be completely restored. A partially printing channel can be caused by dried ink or restricted flow, but it can also result from damaged or permanently nonfunctioning nozzles.
The horizontal white lines or missing portions you are seeing are commonly referred to as banding. In this situation, the banding indicates that some cyan nozzles are producing ink while other nozzles are either not firing or are receiving ink inconsistently.
Because blue normally requires both cyan and magenta, insufficient cyan creates exactly the type of color shift you described. If magenta prints normally but cyan is weak, an intended blue area can become purple, magenta, or pink.
Similarly, green requires cyan along with yellow, so weak cyan can also cause green shades to appear incorrect.
Should You Continue Running the Built-In Printhead Cleaning?
At this stage, I would not expect repeatedly running the same automatic cleaning cycle to produce dramatically different results.
The printer's cleaning function is useful for normal nozzle problems, and progressing through the deeper cleaning levels can sometimes restore dried or partially blocked nozzles. However, there is a point of diminishing returns.
Running many additional cleaning cycles can:

Consume a considerable amount of ink.

Fill the printer's internal waste-ink system more quickly.

Introduce additional air or ink-flow inconsistencies in some situations.

Put unnecessary wear on the printer's service and cleaning mechanisms.
Since you have already performed more than a dozen cleaning cycles and have reached the deeper cleaning level, the fact that the remaining cyan problem persists suggests that this may be more than a minor nozzle obstruction.
Allowing time between cleaning attempts was also a good observation. Sometimes the cleaning fluid already present in the printhead, together with fresh ink, needs time to soften dried residue. Repeatedly initiating cleaning cycles back-to-back is not necessarily more effective.
1. Is BCH Printhead Cleaning Solution Safe for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e?

This distinction is important.
HP OfficeJet printers use thermal inkjet technology, and the printhead contains very small ink passages, firing chambers, electrical components, and nozzle structures. A cleaning fluid that works well in one printhead design should not automatically be assumed to work identically in another.

2. Which BCH Cleaning Solution or Kit Should Be Used?
Because the OfficeJet Pro 8025e is not specifically identified in the compatibility information you found, I would not want to give you a particular BCH kit number and imply that we have confirmed it for this printer when we have not.
The safest approach is to use only a BCH cleaning product whose current product description explicitly states compatibility with the printer, printhead family, or applicable HP thermal-inkjet system.

3. Can the 8025e Be Cleaned Using the Same Procedure Shown in the Video?
The video can be useful for understanding the general principles behind manual printhead cleaning, but we cannot confirm that every physical step shown for another HP OfficeJet model should be duplicated on an OfficeJet Pro 8025e.
This is particularly important with manual flushing.
When attempting to clean a clogged printhead, more pressure is not necessarily better. The internal passages and nozzle plate are extremely delicate. Excessive hydraulic pressure can potentially damage the printhead, separate internal layers, damage seals, or force fluid into places where it does not belong.
Likewise, electrical contacts and electronic areas should not be treated as though they are part of the ink pathway. Cleaning the exposed electrical contacts is different from flushing the ink channels.
Therefore, I would use the video as an explanation of the underlying concept rather than as confirmation that the 8025e should be disassembled and flushed in exactly the same manner.
If the exact printer or printhead is not demonstrated, differences in construction should be assumed until confirmed otherwise.
4. Is the Printhead Still Recoverable?
Possibly.
The improvement you have already observed gives us some reason to believe that the cyan pathway is not completely dead.
You originally had:
Cyan: completely missing
After cleaning, you now have:
Cyan: present but incomplete, with banding and missing sections
That change is consistent with at least a partial improvement in ink delivery or nozzle operation.
If dried ink is gradually dissolving or an ink-flow restriction is being reduced, additional appropriate cleaning may restore more nozzles. On the other hand, if some firing elements within the printhead have failed electrically, cleaning cannot repair those elements.
One useful distinction is whether the missing cyan pattern changes from test to test.
If different cyan lines appear and disappear between nozzle checks, that can sometimes point toward inconsistent ink delivery, air, or a partial restriction.
If exactly the same groups of nozzles remain missing every time regardless of cleaning, permanent nozzle or electrical damage becomes a stronger possibility.
That is not an absolute diagnostic rule, but the pattern can provide useful information.
Another factor is the printer's history. A printer that sat unused for an extended period is more likely to have dried ink inside the printhead. A printer that developed the problem suddenly during regular use could have a different underlying cause.
Since you have already confirmed that cyan ink exits the cartridge, the cartridge is not completely unable to supply ink. However, seeing ink at the cartridge outlet does not prove that ink is traveling correctly through every part of the cyan pathway inside the printhead.
There can still be a restriction downstream from the cartridge.
Cartridge Contacts Versus a Clogged Printhead
You mentioned that cleaning the electrical contacts seemed to help.
That is worth noting because a contact problem and a nozzle clog are two different failure modes.
The gold contacts carry electrical signals. Cleaning them can improve communication and firing if contamination or oxidation is interfering with a connection.
A clogged nozzle, however, is a fluid-flow problem.
It is possible to have both problems at the same time. For example, cleaning the contacts could restore communication to part of the system while the remaining horizontal banding comes from restricted ink flow or damaged nozzles.
Because you observed a significant change after performing several different maintenance steps, it is difficult to attribute the entire improvement to one specific procedure.
No Specific Printer Error Code Was Reported
There was no specific HP error code mentioned in your description, such as a printhead failure code, cartridge error, ink-system error, or printer hardware error.
That is useful information because the problem currently appears to be primarily a print-quality and ink-delivery issue rather than a failure being explicitly identified by the printer's firmware.
If the printer later begins displaying a specific error code, record the complete code exactly as shown. An error message can significantly change the troubleshooting direction because an electrical printhead failure, cartridge communication error, and clogged nozzle problem require very different approaches.
When to Stop Trying to Recover the Printhead
There is always a balance between attempting to save a printhead and spending additional money and time on a printer that may have reached the end of economical repair.
Given the amount of cleaning you have already performed, I would be especially cautious about repeatedly performing aggressive manual cleaning.
If cyan continues improving, there may still be recoverable blockage.
If the result reaches a plateau-for example, the same cyan sections remain missing after appropriate cleaning and adequate resting time-there is an increasing possibility that those nozzles are permanently damaged rather than simply clogged.
At that point, additional cleaning fluid and additional pressure are unlikely to repair an electrical failure.

If the printer ultimately cannot be restored and you decide to purchase a refurbished replacement, I would compare the replacement based on the features you actually use rather than looking only at the model number.
