How to Remove the Epson EcoTank ET-4700 Cover for Printhead Maintenance

Question:
I recently watched a video on how to flush the printheads of my Epson ET-4700 printer. The video made removing the printer cover look straightforward—just lifting and slightly jiggling the connector without removing any screws. However, I'm unable to lift the cover at all, let alone jiggle it. Is there a hidden screw or some specific trick I'm missing, or should I apply force?

Answer:

Removing the cover on the Epson ET-4700 can indeed be a bit tricky if you're not familiar with the hidden screws and securing points. Unlike some simpler designs, this model doesn't lift off easily without addressing a few hidden screws. Specifically, you'll want to check for:

  1. Top black screw: Look on the top right side of the printer cover. This screw is small and might be somewhat obscured.

  2. Side screws: On the right side, near the lifting arm of the scanner assembly, you'll typically find two screws that secure the cover.

Once you've removed these screws, gently lift and slightly wiggle the cover to disconnect it. Avoid using excessive force, as this could damage internal connectors or plastic clips.

I've previously demonstrated this procedure in detail in one of my videos. Given the large number of tutorials I've created over the years (more than 700 videos!), the quickest way to find it is using YouTube’s search feature directly within our channel. Go to our channel homepage and click the magnifying glass icon (🔍) at the top right corner.
