Question:
My Epson WorkForce WF-7720 is stuck in Recovery Mode after a firmware update. I watched your video about firmware rollback, but my printer doesn’t have the same buttons as the WF-7710 you demonstrated. I tried the first method, but it didn’t work. Can you tell me exactly which buttons to press for the WF-7720 to recover it? I’ve tried everything—please help!
Understanding Recovery Mode on the Epson WF-7720
When your Epson WF-7720 enters Recovery Mode, it typically means the printer attempted a firmware update that either failed or is incompatible, sometimes due to third-party cartridges or unsupported chips. This is especially common after Epson pushes out firmware updates to lock out non-OEM ink systems.
In your case, since the screen is stuck in Recovery and regular operation is inaccessible, you’ll need to initiate Service Support Mode to enter the correct firmware ID manually.
Correct Button Sequence for Epson WF-7720
Unlike the WF-7710, the WF-7720 lacks a physical Home button, but you can still enter Service Support Mode by using this method:
-
Power off the printer.
-
Press and hold the
[OK]
button and thePower
button simultaneously. -
Keep holding them until the screen switches to Service Support Mode.
Once you're in this mode:
-
Use the
[2]
or[8]
button to scroll and select each digit. -
Use the
[6]
button to confirm each digit, which will then turn into a*
. -
Repeat until all five digits are entered.
-
After entering the ID, press the
[#]
button twice to confirm.
The correct ID to enter for this model is: 61544
Important Notes:
-
You must enter at least two digits for the Execute button to become active.
-
If you accidentally enter the wrong ID:
-
If a different mode starts, Immediately press the Power button to shut off the printer to prevent altering critical settings.
-
If you enter a non-existent ID, the printer will automatically shut down.
-
-
If successful, the printer should exit Recovery Mode and restart normally.
This method is part of Epson’s internal diagnostic procedures for the WF-7720, WF-7710, and WF-7210 series, and it’s proven to work for many users facing firmware rollback issues.
