Question: My Epson L1800 DTF printer has two flashing lights, and when it prints, only blank pages come out. What can I do to resolve this problem?
When your Epson L1800 DTF displays two flashing lights (the paper and ink LEDs blinking simultaneously), it typically indicates a general error or a maintenance-related fault. Coupled with blank page output, the issue is most likely connected to one of these areas:
Step 1: Check Error Codes Using the Adjustment Program
The most reliable way to diagnose the problem is by using Epson’s Adjustment Program:
-
Open the Adjustment Program and select your printer from the USB dropdown menu.
-
Click on Particular Adjustment.
-
Scroll down and choose Printer Information Check.
-
Click Check, and the most recent error code will appear at the top as Error Number 1.
Once you have the error code, you can interpret it by searching for “BCH Epson Error” on Google. This will lead you to our page explaining Epson’s Triple Secret Error Codes, which help identify whether the fault is sensor-related, mechanical, or electronic. For example, a common failure is linked to the APG sensor (paper feed sensor), which can trigger flashing lights and misreport blank printing.
If you don’t already have the Adjustment Program, it is typically provided to Epson service technicians; however, many DTF printer sellers also distribute it. If it wasn’t included with your printer, you may need to search online to find a copy.

Step 2: Other Common Causes to Consider
-
Clogged Printhead: If the error code doesn’t indicate a sensor or board failure, the blank pages may be due to a clogged printhead. DTF ink is thicker than standard inks and can dry inside the nozzles. Running a cleaning cycle (or manually priming the head) may restore ink flow.
-
Cartridge or Chip Recognition Issues: If the printer is not recognizing ink levels properly, it may refuse to fire ink even though the carriage moves normally.
-
Mainboard or Fuse Issues: Since you already see blinking lights, it’s also possible that a fuse on the mainboard (like the F1 fuse) has failed, preventing ink signals from reaching the head. This is less common, but worth checking if the Adjustment Program indicates electronic faults.
Printer troubleshooting can be complex because of the hands-on steps required. For this reason, we’re unable to provide remote repair or live troubleshooting. However, BCH Technologies does offer an in-person diagnostic and repair service (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Please note that due to high demand, repairs are handled on a first-come, first-served basis and may take a few weeks before we can work on your unit. We can service entire printers or individual parts, and we’ll provide clear instructions on how to proceed. That said, our repair rates may not always be the most economical. This is why we encourage you also to explore self-help resources, including our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). By using the search function on the channel’s homepage, you can quickly find videos related to error codes, printhead checks, and Epson maintenance.
