How to Fix Epson ET-8550 “PB” Ink Flow Issues and Resolve Error Code 031006

I'm having trouble with my Epson ET-8550. At first, the "PB" (Photo Black) ink wasn't coming through even after multiple head cleanings and nozzle checks—everything looked fine except "PB." I tried a power cleaning and waited about 15 hours before printing again. After that, only "B," "P," and "Y" showed up on the nozzle check. More head cleanings didn’t help. I then manually pushed ink through the dampers using a syringe. After one final heat cleaning, the printer threw error code 031006, and now it won’t start without showing this error.    • Using a syringe to manually push ink through the dampers is a high-risk operation. Unless you're experienced with printhead hydraulics, it's easy to create too much pressure.

   • Overpressurizing the lines can damage the damper seals or worse, the internal circuitry of the printhead itself.

3. Error Code 031006:

   • This is a critical hardware failure. Specifically, Error 031006 means the printhead has failed, and often this is due to an internal short circuit—usually caused by liquid intrusion or electrical overstrain.

   • Unfortunately, when this happens, the mainboard (logic board) often goes with it. That’s why the printer now boots straight into the error code—it can't initialize the printhead circuit safely.
