How to Fix an Epson ET-8550 DTF Printer Only Printing in the Middle of the Film

Question:

I have a DTF-converted Epson ET-8550 printer, and I’m experiencing an issue where it only prints on the middle of the film instead of using the entire sheet. I’ve tried multiple troubleshooting steps but haven’t been able to fix the problem. Do you have a solution for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Now, let’s dive into your problem.

Why Is Your Epson ET-8550 Printing Only to Half of the Film?

This problem is actually due to the page width sensor at work, but the page width sensor works perfectly in this case. This happened because the sensor d, which works perfectly, is the actual width. Thebecause

How to Fix This Issue

Below are two of the possible ways you can fix the issue:

(Patches/Temporary Solutions: Tape a Thin Piece on Back of the Film.)

There is a surface sensor called the page width sensor, which knows how wide your material is by how much light comes through the film.is, which determines the width of your material by measuring.

DTF film is too transparent, which causes the sensor not to register the correct width and default printing in the middle section.

To do this, stick a small piece of tape (opaque is preferred) to the back of the film anywhere on the path the page width sensor reads the media.

So that the sensor can measure the width and print correctly.

This solution is quick and easy, but it means adding tape before each pouch is printed manually.

Upcoming Bypass Chip (Permanent Fix)

We're working on a bypass chipset at the moment that will reprogram the page width sensor, so no more fighting with it currently we won't have to fight with it anymore

The printer will engage with the DTF film without having to put any tape or any alteration to the DTF film the need to apply tape or alter it

The bypass chip will be released in two to three weeks and will be announced on our YouTube channel. Make sure to update yourself with the news!
