Fixing Ribbon and Scanner Issues on Epson ET-2760 Printers

I recently bought a used Epson ET-2760 where the seller mentioned a paper jam error. When it arrived, the scanner was detached from the printer, with two small ribbons visible but no sign of a third large ribbon. It looks like the scanner was forced back too far when it was opened. Does this model require a third large ribbon, and how can I disassemble the printer to access where the cables connect?

The Epson ET-2760 scanner assembly only uses two ribbon cables: one small ribbon and one larger ribbon. While it may appear that a third ribbon is missing, this model does not require a third ribbon for proper operation. To resolve your issue, carefully reconnect the small and large ribbons to their respective ports on the mainboard. Ensure they are securely attached, as loose connections can lead to errors or non-functioning components.
To disassemble the printer, you start by unscrewing the screws that connect the scanner unit to the base. Carefully lift the scanner while avoiding bending or putting tension on the connected cables. Attaching the scanner gives access to the mainboard area slightly out of reach when the scanner is removed due to ribbons. Check the cable ports for any signs of damage and ensure that the ribbons are not folded or torn. Reconnect, put the scanner unit back together and test the printer. If there are no other hardware problems, this should fix it.
