I have an Epson L1800, and both the ink and paper lights are flashing at the same time. I tried using a reset or adjustment program, selected the partial reset option, and attempted to check the printer's status. If all connections appear correct and the printer still produces error 0x43, the next likely suspects are the printhead thermistor circuit or the mainboard's printhead-detection circuitry.

Testing these components safely may require electrical measurements, known-good parts, and experience diagnosing Epson head circuits.

Be Careful When Swapping the Printhead or Mainboard

Do not install a new mainboard without considering whether the printhead caused the original failure.

A shorted printhead may damage the replacement board as soon as the printer is powered on. Similarly, installing a good printhead into a damaged board could place the replacement head at risk.
