Question:
I'm using an Epson ET-2760, and the ink isn't flowing into the printhead cartridge. Additionally, my ink tanks appear to be full, but my computer indicates that I have less than 40% ink remaining. How can I fix this?
Answer:
Problem 1: Ink Not Reaching the Printhead
If your Epson ET-2760 isn't delivering ink to the printhead, the problem is typically due to one of the following:
1. Airlocks in the Ink Line or Dampers
When air gets into the ink delivery system, it prevents ink from reaching the printhead. Here’s how to approach this:
-
Run Cleaning Cycles:
Use the printer's built-in menu to run 2–3 head cleaning cycles. This sometimes restores ink flow by drawing ink through the lines. -
Manual Priming with a Syringe:
If cleaning doesn’t work, use a priming tool — a syringe with tubing — on the printhead’s waste port. This creates suction and draws ink through manually.
You can refer to a demonstration on this process on our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies).
2. Printhead or Capping Station Issues
If you're drawing air instead of ink using the syringe, it may point to a larger problem:
-
The printhead may not be properly seated or sealed on the capping station.
-
The capping station may be clogged or dried out, breaking the vacuum seal needed for suction.
-
There could be a severe internal clog inside the printhead nozzles.
To test:
-
Turn the printer on (so the printhead docks).
-
Draw gently using a syringe connected to the waste line.
-
You should feel resistance and pull some ink.
-
If you only get air or no resistance: suspect a bad seal or clog.
-
3. Using a Cleaning Kit
If the above methods don't work, consider flushing the printhead with cleaning solution using a cleaning kit designed for the ET-2760. BCH offers such kits, and they include instructions and tubing for safe cleaning without removing the printhead.
Problem 2: Ink Level Showing Below 40% Despite Full Tanks
This is a common confusion among EcoTank users, and it’s important to note that:
-
The Epson ET-2760 does not use real-time ink sensors. Instead, it estimates ink levels based on print volume and ink usage algorithms.
-
Even if your tanks are full, the printer might report low ink if you didn’t reset the levels after refilling.
Fix: Resetting Ink Levels Properly
-
On your printer’s screen, go to:
Maintenance > Reset Ink Levels -
Select the colors you refilled.
-
Confirm the reset only after physically refilling the tanks.
(Failing to reset after a refill — or resetting prematurely — will throw off future ink estimations.)
Addressing printer issues can be a complicated affair due to the hands-on nature of the problems. So, we're not able to provide remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or support for printer repairs. We offer an in-person evaluation and repair service via our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Given the high demand, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis. So, it might take a few weeks before we can get your printer to drop it off. Our services are structured to repair either a whole printer or specific parts, with clear instructions on how to proceed. However, we acknowledge that our rates aren't the most economical. Thus, we highly recommend that you resort to self-help via online research. You can start by checking out YouTube or visiting our YouTube channel's homepage (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). Look for specific videos using the search icon next to "About" on the right-hand side of the menu bar. I receive dozens of queries every day asking about videos for specific topics. Having created videos over the past nine years, it's challenging to remember every single one. Therefore, using YouTube's search function would be most efficient. Plus, YouTube might suggest relevant videos from other channels that could assist you.
Thank you once again for reaching out. We hope this guide helps you get your ET-2760 back in working order!
