Question
I watched your video about fixing Error 031006 on the Epson ET-2750 / ST-2000 by replacing the F301 fuse. My electricity was turned off unexpectedly, and I did not have time to turn off my Epson printer properly. The next morning, the printer showed scanner error 031006.
Where are you located, and can I send you the motherboard/mainboard for repair?
Answer
For Epson models such as the ET-2750 and ST-2000, scanner error 031006 often points to a scanner-related communication or power problem. In the video you mentioned, the repair involved the F301 fuse. This fuse is part of the protection circuit on the mainboard. If the printer experiences an electrical event, power interruption, short, surge, or abnormal load, the fuse may open to protect the rest of the circuit. When that happens, the printer may no longer supply the correct power to the scanner section, and the printer can report scanner error 031006.
A sudden power outage can sometimes trigger this type of issue. In many cases, simply losing power should not damage the printer. However, if the outage involved a surge, unstable voltage, power flicker, or the printer was in the middle of movement or startup, it can create conditions where the mainboard or scanner circuit becomes stressed. When the printer turns back on, it performs a self-check. If the scanner cannot initialize, cannot communicate properly, or does not receive the expected voltage, the printer may display error 031006.
The F301 fuse is one possible cause, but it is not the only possible cause. Error 031006 may also be related to the scanner cable, scanner motor, scanner home position sensor, scanner unit, or a mainboard circuit beyond the fuse. If the fuse is blown, replacing it may restore the scanner circuit. However, if the fuse blew because another component shorted, replacing the fuse alone may not solve the problem permanently. The new fuse could blow again, or the printer may continue showing the same error.
Before sending the board, it is important to understand the difference between a mainboard repair and a whole-printer repair. If you send only the mainboard, we can inspect and work on the board itself. However, we cannot test every mechanical or scanner-related function the same way we could with the entire printer. For example, if the scanner unit, scanner cable, or another printer-side component is the true cause, the mainboard repair may not fully resolve the issue. This is why we ask customers to review the service details carefully before placing an order.
For mainboard, formatter board, or motherboard repair, please review our service page here: Fast Track Mainboard Repair Service [https://bchtechnologies.com/collections/printer-repair-service/products/fast-track-mainboard-repair-l1800-xp-15000-et-15000-wf-7610-7620-wf-7110-wf-7710-7720-et-8550-et-2720-et-2750printer-mainboard-formatter-board-motherboard-troubleshooting-and-repair].
That service page explains the most common questions we receive, including how much the repair costs, whether the service is for the mainboard only or the whole printer, which printer models are supported, whether you should send the mainboard or the entire printer, where to ship the board, which symptoms are likely mainboard-related, and which symptoms may not be solved by board repair alone.
It also explains what is included in the repair, what is excluded, what happens if the problem is not actually on the mainboard, whether parts are included or billed separately, expected turnaround time, inbound and return shipping responsibility, repair warranty details, and when it may be better to choose whole-printer repair instead of board-only repair.
For your specific Epson scanner error 031006, the mainboard is a reasonable place to investigate, especially because the issue appeared after an electrical interruption and because the F301 fuse is known to be involved in some 031006 cases. However, I would still avoid assuming that the fuse is definitely the only failed part. The scanner cable and scanner assembly should also be considered, especially if the fuse tests good or if the printer still shows the error after board repair.
If you are comfortable removing the mainboard, make sure the printer is unplugged first. Take photos before removing cables so you can reinstall everything correctly. Be especially careful with flat flexible cables because they can be damaged easily if pulled at an angle or inserted crookedly. Also, do not power the printer back on if you see ink, moisture, burn marks, corrosion, or liquid near the board or cable connectors. Liquid contamination can cause additional damage.
If you decide to send the mainboard, please follow the instructions on the service page carefully. Pack the board well, protect it from static and physical damage, and include the information requested on the service page so the repair can be processed properly. If the problem turns out to be outside the mainboard, then a whole-printer diagnostic may be needed instead.
Addressing printer issues can be a complicated affair because many printer problems require hands-on inspection, testing, and confirmation. For that reason, we are not able to provide remote troubleshooting, detailed repair suggestions, or ongoing support for printer repairs. We do offer an in-person evaluation and repair service through our local diagnostic facility: BCH Technologies Printer Repair Service [https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service]. Because demand is high, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so it may take a few weeks before your printer can be dropped off or evaluated. Our services are structured to repair either a complete printer or specific printer parts, with clear instructions on how to proceed. However, we understand that our rates may not be the most economical option for every situation. For that reason, we strongly recommend self-help through online research whenever possible. A good starting point is YouTube, including our BCH Technologies YouTube homepage [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies]. Once you are on the channel page, use the search icon next to "About" on the right-hand side of the menu bar to look for specific topics. I receive many requests every day asking which video covers a specific repair, and after creating videos for more than nine years, it is difficult to remember every single one. YouTube's search function is usually the fastest way to find a relevant video, and it may also suggest helpful videos from other creators.
Thank you again for contacting us and for watching the video. I am sorry the printer developed scanner error 031006 after the power interruption. Please review the mainboard repair service page carefully before sending anything in, because it explains the process, shipping, limitations, and expectations in detail.
