Epson ET-2750 Printing Blank Pages: Causes and Troubleshooting for No Ink on Paper

Question

I have an Epson EcoTank ET-2750 that feeds the paper normally, but every page comes out completely blank with no ink printed at all.

I have already tried several troubleshooting steps, including head cleaning, printhead alignment, and power cleaning. I also checked the ink supply tubes. Initially, ink was not flowing properly, so I used a syringe to manually pull ink through the tubing until the ink reached the other side of the system and the tubes appeared filled.

Despite doing this, the printer still produces completely blank pages. Is there anything else I can check to restore ink flow and printing, or does this indicate that the printer has a hardware problem?

Answer

When an Epson ET-2750 produces completely blank pages, the first thing I would determine is whether this is still an ink-delivery problem or whether the printhead is not firing electrically.

There is an important difference between a printer that produces a very poor nozzle check and one that produces absolutely nothing. Missing lines, broken patterns, or one or two missing colors usually suggest clogged nozzles or an ink-flow issue. If the nozzle check itself is entirely blank across every color, especially after the ink tubes have been filled, additional possibilities need to be considered.

1. Print a Nozzle Check Before Doing More Cleaning

I would first run a nozzle check directly from the printer rather than printing a normal document from the computer.

This helps separate a printer hardware problem from a computer, driver, software, or document problem.

If the nozzle check prints even a small amount of black, cyan, magenta, or yellow, the printhead is at least firing. In that situation, you would concentrate more heavily on ink delivery, trapped air, dried ink, or a clogged printhead.

However, if the nozzle check sheet comes out 100% blank, there may be more going on than ordinary clogged nozzles.

2. Air May Still Be Trapped in the Ink System

Because the printer previously had a condition where ink was not moving through the tubing, air may have entered the ink path.

Seeing ink inside the tubes does not necessarily mean the entire ink-delivery system and printhead are properly primed. Ink still needs to travel from the tanks through the tubing and into the printhead's internal ink chambers before it can be ejected through the nozzles.

After a system has run dry, a large air pocket can sometimes remain inside the printhead even when the visible tubing appears full.

This is one reason repeatedly performing normal head cleaning may not immediately restore printing.

3. Be Careful With Additional Power Cleanings

Since you have already performed a power cleaning, I would avoid performing many more of them consecutively.

A power cleaning moves a much larger quantity of ink through the system than an ordinary head cleaning. It can sometimes help reprime an EcoTank printer after ink starvation, but repeatedly running the procedure can consume a considerable amount of ink and fill the printer's waste-ink system much faster.

If ink is already reaching the printhead but the nozzles are physically blocked, repeatedly forcing more ink through the cleaning system may not solve the underlying problem.

Allowing some time between aggressive cleaning cycles can also sometimes help dried ink soften rather than continuously running cleaning after cleaning.

4. Check the Capping Station and Cleaning Pump

Another major area I would investigate is the printer's cleaning station.

When the printhead moves to its resting position, it sits over a rubber component generally referred to as the capping station or cap. During a cleaning cycle, the printer's pump creates suction through this area and pulls ink through the printhead.

If the cap is clogged, dirty, damaged, or unable to seal against the bottom of the printhead, the pump may not be able to create enough vacuum to prime the head.

Likewise, if the waste-ink tubing or cleaning pump is clogged or damaged, the printer can appear to perform a cleaning cycle without actually pulling ink through the printhead effectively.

This situation can be particularly important when the printer previously experienced ink starvation.

5. Check Whether Ink Is Actually Reaching the Printhead

You mentioned using a syringe to pull ink through the tubing. This tells us that ink can move through at least part of the ink-delivery system, but it does not necessarily prove that ink has successfully filled all of the printhead's internal channels.

If you perform any manual priming work, use extreme caution. Excessive syringe pressure or vacuum can damage components, introduce additional air, contaminate colors, or force fluid into areas where it should not go.

In general, pulling ink gently is safer than forcing ink under high pressure toward the printhead.

If all four colors are simultaneously absent, I would be especially careful about assuming that four separate nozzle channels suddenly became completely clogged at exactly the same time.

6. A Severely Dried or Clogged Printhead Is Still Possible

If the ET-2750 sat unused for a significant period, particularly while the printhead or ink lines were partially empty, ink can dry inside the printhead.

A severe clog can produce an almost completely blank nozzle check.

Ordinary cleaning cycles are designed primarily for minor nozzle blockages and air bubbles. They are not always effective against hardened pigment or dye residue deep inside a printhead.

At that point, technicians sometimes perform manual printhead cleaning. However, this is considerably more invasive than selecting "Head Cleaning" from the printer menu and carries a risk of damaging the printhead if done improperly.

7. Check the Printhead Electrical Connections

There is another possibility that becomes increasingly important when every color is completely absent.

The Epson printhead is an electronic component. Ink must reach it mechanically, but the printer must also send electrical firing signals to the printhead.

The printhead is connected to the printer's electronics through flat flexible cables, commonly called FFC cables.

If one of these cables becomes loose, contaminated with ink, damaged, or installed incorrectly, the printhead may receive ink but still fail to fire.

This is particularly worth considering if the printer has previously been disassembled or if liquid has been present around the printhead carriage.

Do not reconnect or disconnect printhead cables while the printer is powered. A short circuit around the printhead cable can cause considerably more damage.

8. A Failed Printhead or Mainboard Circuit Is Possible

If you have verified that:

  • the ink tanks contain ink,

  • the ink lines are filled,

  • the printhead has been properly primed,

  • the capping station and pump are functioning,

  • the nozzle check remains completely blank, and

  • there are no obvious ink-flow obstructions,

then an electrical failure becomes a stronger possibility.

The printhead itself can fail electrically. The printer's mainboard circuitry that drives the printhead can also fail.

Some Epson printers contain protective circuitry associated with the printhead drive system. A shorted printhead or an electrical problem around the printhead cable can damage the printhead-driving circuitry. In such a situation, replacing or unclogging the ink-delivery components would not restore printing because the head is no longer being electrically activated.

This is one reason I would not automatically conclude that a completely blank page is simply a clog.

9. Pay Attention to Any Error Messages or Error Codes

You did not mention a specific Epson error code in your question. If the ET-2750 is displaying an error message or code, that information could significantly narrow down the diagnosis.

For example, errors relating to the scanner, carriage movement, ink-pad service life, paper feed system, or general printer malfunction may point toward a different problem from an ink-flow issue.

If there is no error code at all and the printer behaves normally-paper loads, the carriage moves, and the printer acts as though it is printing-but the page remains completely white, I would focus primarily on the ink-delivery system, printhead, printhead electrical connections, and printhead-driving electronics.

10. One Useful Diagnostic Clue: Is Anything Printed at All?

The most useful distinction at this stage is whether you can obtain any visible nozzle pattern whatsoever.

If you get faint or incomplete printing, the problem is more likely related to ink delivery or nozzle blockage.

If every nozzle check is completely white after confirming that ink has reached the printhead, I would become increasingly suspicious of:

  1. Air trapped inside the printhead

  2. A cleaning pump or capping-station problem

  3. A severely blocked printhead

  4. A disconnected or damaged printhead FFC cable

  5. A failed printhead

  6. A printhead-driving circuit or mainboard failure

Because all colors are affected, I would investigate components shared by all four colors rather than assuming that every individual ink channel developed an identical clog at the same time.
