Question:
I watched your video, "Stop Epson Fake Paper Jam! DTF Drive Board Installation Guide." Does this drive board help with Epson error code 034004?
Answer:
The BCH DTF drive board may help with Epson error code 034004, but only when the cause of the error is related to the sensors and signal conditions that the drive board is designed to bypass or override. It is not a universal repair for every 034004 error.
On many Epson EcoTank printers used for DTF conversion, a fake paper jam can happen even when there is no real paper jam inside the printer. This is especially common when the printer is feeding semi-transparent DTF film instead of regular white paper. Epson printers rely on several sensors to confirm paper position, paper width, timing, and movement. When those sensors do not see what they expect, the printer may stop and report a paper jam, even though the film is physically moving correctly.
The BCH DTF drive board is designed to overwrite or bypass several sensor-related problems that commonly interfere with DTF printing. One important example is the page width sensor. In a normal office-printing situation, the page width sensor helps the printer verify the paper. However, DTF film is often semi-transparent, glossy, or reflective. Because of that, the sensor may not detect it correctly. When the printer thinks the media is missing, misaligned, or not the correct width, it can trigger a fake paper jam or related error.
So, if your Epson 034004 error is caused by one of these sensor-detection problems, then yes, the BCH DTF drive board can help. This is the kind of situation where the printer's mechanics may still be working, but the logic board receives the wrong information from the sensors. In that case, the drive board helps the printer continue operating by preventing those false sensor readings from stopping the print job.
However, if the 034004 error is caused by a real mechanical problem, the drive board will not fix it. For example, if the printer has missing gear teeth, a worn or slipping belt, a damaged carriage mechanism, a misaligned frame, broken paper-feed parts, or a physical obstruction, the printer still needs mechanical repair. The drive board cannot replace broken hardware or make damaged parts move correctly.
For error code 034004, I would first separate the problem into two categories: sensor-related fake jam or actual mechanical failure. If the printer feeds normally part of the way and then stops as if the film was not detected, that points more toward a sensor or DTF-media detection issue. If the printer makes grinding noises, the carriage does not move smoothly, the film skews badly, the belt jumps, or the paper-feed mechanism slips, that points more toward mechanical damage.
The drive board is most useful when the printer is basically functional but is being confused by DTF film. It is less useful when the printer has a physical problem that would also affect normal paper feeding. A good test is to check whether the printer can still feed regular paper correctly. If regular paper feeds and prints normally but DTF film causes the 034004 error, then the problem is more likely related to sensor detection, media transparency, or DTF conversion behavior. If the printer cannot feed regular paper either, then the problem is more likely mechanical.
Also, keep in mind that "fake paper jam" is a broad symptom. Two printers can show similar paper jam behavior but have completely different root causes. One printer may be stopped by the page width sensor. Another may have a worn gear. Another may have a damaged belt, dirty encoder strip, weak pickup roller, misaligned paper path, or a carriage movement problem. That is why the same board can solve the problem on one printer but not on another.
In short, the BCH DTF drive board can help with Epson error code 034004 when the error is caused by sensor conflicts related to DTF printing, especially problems involving semi-transparent film detection. It will not repair a printer with physical damage, missing gear teeth, worn belts, misaligned frame parts, or broken feed mechanisms. If the printer has a true mechanical jam, those parts need to be inspected and repaired separately.
Addressing printer issues can be a complicated affair because many of these problems require hands-on inspection. For that reason, we are not able to provide remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or support for printer repairs. We offer an in-person evaluation and repair service through our local diagnostic facility: BCH Technologies Printer Repair Service [https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service]. Because demand is high, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so it may take a few weeks before we can accept your printer for drop-off. Our services are structured to repair either a whole printer or specific printer parts, with clear instructions on how to proceed. However, we understand that our rates may not be the most economical option for every situation. Therefore, we highly recommend using self-help resources and online research whenever possible. You can start by checking YouTube or visiting our YouTube channel homepage: BCH Technologies on YouTube [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies]. Use the search icon next to "About" on the right-hand side of the channel menu bar to search for specific repair topics. I receive dozens of questions every day asking about videos for specific problems. Since we have created videos for more than nine years, it is difficult to remember every single one, so YouTube's search function is usually the fastest way to find the most relevant video. YouTube may also suggest helpful videos from other channels.
Thank you again for your question and for watching our video. We appreciate your support and hope this helps you decide whether the DTF drive board is the right direction for your 034004 error.
