Question:
I came across BCH Technologies' YouTube video about invisible UV-reactive ink. I wanted to ask: Is it possible to print any kind of image, figure, or writing on a shirt with this invisible UV ink?
Answer:
Invisible UV-reactive ink can indeed be used to print text, shapes, or graphics onto a shirt. However, it's important to understand how the ink works and its limitations:
-
Single-Color Effect
The UV-reactive invisible ink reveals itself only under UV (black) light. Unlike standard CMYK inks that allow full-color printing, this ink is essentially one color only when viewed under UV light. So yes, you can print any figure, writing, or pattern, but the result will not be in multiple colors-it will display as a glowing, single hue when exposed to UV light. -
Ink Channel Usage
Most printers used for textile printing rely on a 4-color (CMYK) system. If you decide to use UV-reactive ink, one of those ink slots must be dedicated to the invisible ink. This means you would effectively be printing with only three standard colors plus the UV ink. -
Mixing Possibilities
It is possible to mix the UV ink with one of the regular colors, creating a reactive version of that particular shade. However, this still won't give you the full spectrum of multicolor printing under UV-it's more of a creative enhancement for a single-color effect. -
Application on Shirts
As long as the shirt's material and coating are compatible with the printer and ink type, you can print virtually anything-letters, logos, or designs. The key difference is that the result will appear "invisible" under normal light but will glow under UV illumination.
Addressing printer issues and specialty ink usage can be complicated due to the hands-on nature of the problems. For that reason, we're not able to provide remote troubleshooting or repair support. However, we do offer an in-person evaluation and repair service through our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Please note that we operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so it may take a few weeks before your printer can be serviced. Our repair structure allows for either whole-printer servicing or individual part replacement. That said, we recognize that our rates may not be the most cost-effective option. For many users, self-help is the best route-especially with the wealth of information available online. We encourage you to explore our YouTube channel's homepage (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies) and use the search feature to find relevant videos. This will save you time and may point you toward related content from other creators as well.
Thank you once again for your question and for engaging with our content. We truly appreciate your support and look forward to helping you with future projects.
