Question:
I have an HP Deskjet C6380 printer that I mainly use for printing text and graphics, not photos. Which refill kit would you recommend?
Answer:
For your HP Deskjet C6380, the printer uses the HP 564 cartridge series. While we don't offer a complete "kit" specifically for this model (since most users prefer a more straightforward refill process), you can refill these cartridges effectively using our inks. Typically, people flip the cartridge upside down and carefully drip ink into it. You can see a demonstration here: How to Refill HP Cartridges Video (https://youtube.com/watch?v=N7Y1nk-D5cc).
For more advanced users, we also offer transparent casings that allow you to transplant the original chips, making refilling easier and more reliable. You can find those casings here: Transparent Casing for HP Cartridges (https://tinyurl.com/yc2optw5). A video guide is also available: How to Use Transparent Casings (https://youtube.com/watch?v=2DJQLUeTBfA).
Which Ink Should You Use?
We don't manufacture ink tied to specific cartridge numbers, unless the cartridge requires specialized formulas. Instead, we produce ink formulated for each brand, like HP, Canon, or Epson. Here's how it works for the HP 564 series:
-
Color Cartridges (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow): Should always be filled with dye ink.
-
Large Black Cartridge (HP 564 Black): Originally contains pigment ink, but it can also be converted to dye ink depending on your needs.
-
Photo Black Cartridge: Requires dye ink.
For comparison between pigment and dye ink performance, see our detailed article here: Dye vs. Pigment Ink Comparison (https://support.bchtechnologies.com/hc/en-us/articles/200555919).
If you'd like a recommended set for the HP 564 series, we suggest: 2 Pigment Black + 1 Dye (Photo) Black + Dye CMY Colors. You can find that option here: HP 564 Refill Set.
Addressing printer problems and ink compatibility often requires hands-on troubleshooting. Because of that, we're not able to provide direct remote troubleshooting or one-on-one technical support for printer repairs. Instead, we provide in-person diagnostics and repair through our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Due to high demand, this service works on a first-come, first-served basis, and it may take several weeks before we can accept a printer drop-off. While our service is designed to cover both full printer repairs and part replacements, we understand it may not be the most economical choice. That's why we encourage customers to explore self-help options, starting with resources on YouTube, including our own BCH Technologies YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). Using the search icon on the channel's menu bar will help you quickly locate relevant videos.
Thank you again for your support and for reaching out to us. We're glad to be a resource in helping you keep your printer running smoothly.
