Question:
My Brother printer cartridges seemed to work when I refilled them, but the printer would not recognize them as complete when they were. No matter what I tried, resetting the printer, I wasted my money because the ink was leaking. Now my printer won't print. What should I do?
Answer:
We apologize for the delay in getting back to you and appreciate your contacting us. These types of printer issues are time-sensitive, and we appreciate your patience. We want to make sure we do so thoughtfully and in-depth so we can help you fix your printer issue.
BCH Technologies is known for providing quality and reliable inks. We get it: constantly refilling cartridges or dealing with problems like ink seeping or the printer refusing to acknowledge it as complete can be maddening. Take caution that different printers and cartridge types might have unique prerequisites for a successful refill process. These differences can occasionally result in surprising results.
Brother printers, for example, employ some cartridge recognition systems that result in the printer having to be reset before it will accept the ink cartridges that have been refilled. If the cartridge has a chip (many printers do), the chip must be reset (or you must replace the chip) to tell the printer that the cartridge is full. If the chip isn't reset, the printer won't recognize the cartridge as complete, which can lead to precisely the issue you've described. Furthermore, we have special printers that work best with either refillable cartridges intended to be used more than once or compatible cartridges — standard cartridges may not refill particularly well.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that you could try to see if they fix the issue:
Reset the Printer and the Cartridge Chips:
For some printers, you will still need a chip reset tool unless the cartridge is recognized as full. Such tools can be found online and reset the chip so the printer will reaccept the cartridge. If the printer isn't detecting the cartridge, try resetting the chip.
Check for Leaks:
If ink leaks out while the cartridge is being refilled, it could mean it has been overfilled, or the ink is not sealed inside correctly. Please follow the proper model-specific Brother cartridge refill instructions. You may also want to look for cracks or damage in the cartridge that may cause it to leak.
Use Refillable Cartridges:
Many Brother printers have cases that do not allow frequent cartridge refills. If you aren't already, you can just think about getting refillable cartridges meant for multiple uses. These are usually more suitable for refilling and frequently have resettable chips.
Manufacturer's Guidelines
Could you make sure you follow manufacturer property where applicable?
The steps may vary depending on your model, so be sure you're following the correct ink and refill process for your printer. Incorrect ink can result in poor performance, leaks, or misreads by the printer.
As the problem appears to stem from the refilling process rather than faulty ink, we are sorry to say we are not able to offer a refund. However, we can help you further troubleshoot or provide guidelines specific to the model of Brother printer you use to refill the toner successfully.
