Troubleshooting Galaxy DTF Printer Issues: Understanding Mainboard Versions and Solutions

Question: I have a Galaxy DTF printer from DTF Station that’s over a year old, and it frequently breaks down. The motherboard has failed multiple times—I’ve replaced it three times in the past three months. The printer receives power up to the carriage board, but on the carriage board above the printhead, only the red and green indicator lights are on, while the blue and orange lights remain off. I’ve tried swapping out printheads, but nothing has changed. Additionally, is there a difference between version one and version two of the L1800 printer? Any advice would be appreciated.

Mainboard Versions for the L1800:
Based on our experience, there is only one version of the L1800 mainboard, the CB53. We frequently repair these boards and have yet to encounter multiple versions of the L1800 motherboard. However, there could be some confusion with the 1390 mainboard. The Epson 1390 model has two versions, often called the "old version" and the "new version." Adding to the confusion, both L1800 and the "new" 1390 board share the CB53 model number but are distinct from the CB53 board used in the L1800. The older 1390 mainboard is labelled C655, while the newer one also carries the CB53 label.
If you purchase a 1390 mainboard, sellers typically specify whether it is the old or new version, but they do not refer to it as "version one" or "version two." -
Understanding Indicator Lights on the Carriage Board:
Without directly inspecting the board, it’s challenging to determine the exact significance of the red and green lights being on while the blue and orange lights remain off. These indicator lights are often manufacturer-specific and can signal anything from a firmware issue to a hardware failure, such as a faulty carriage board or printhead connection.
Since you’ve already tried swapping out the printheads, the issue may lie in the board's data or power transmission. Diagnosing the problem further would require testing the board components or potentially replacing the carriage board itself. My suggestion is to hook up an Epson Adjustment Program and read out the real error code. -
Potential Repairs:
We specialize in repairing L1800 and 1390 boards and are happy to evaluate your printer's needs. If you'd like to move forward with a repair, you can send us your motherboard for diagnosis and servicing. At this time, we are unable to accept mail-in requests for entire printers. While this may change in the future, we are currently fully booked for 2024. This policy helps us maintain a high level of service for our local customers.
