Troubleshooting Epson ET-15000 Printing Issues: Blank Pages and Printhead Replacement

Question:

I’ve been using your website for guidance on troubleshooting my Epson ET-15000 printer, which I converted to sublimation but only use infrequently. Recently, my cyan nozzle check was scattered, and after multiple cleaning cycles—including power clean, printhead cleaner kits, and printhead dismantling—I’m now getting blank pages. I also updated the firmware during the process.

I suspect I may have damaged the printhead but don’t know how to confirm that. I’m willing to purchase a new printhead if necessary but can’t find one on your website. Do you have any suggestions or know where I can buy a replacement?

Answer:

Thank you dearly for contacting us and depending on our website to use information from here as a resource. We appreciate your support here at BCH Technologies, and especially on our YouTube channel) Your input helps us build our technical expertise and refine our content for the community.

You've done everything that can lead you in the proper direction. The printer head cleaning solution may have been left on the printer head too long, affecting its function. It is nice that you have tested the dampers to be OK, refilled them, and cleaned them in various ways. The following approach is a one-by-one troubleshooting of the issue:

Could you park the printhead on the capping station? Initially, power on the printer to park the head at the capping station (Also called default position, where the head rests when there is no print work).

Attach the waste ink tube using a syringe (preferably 5ml or 10ml).

Pull slowly on the waste tube to draw ink through it. There should be some resistance when you pull. If it there is no resistance and you are pulling air, park the printhead and follow this procedure again.

Could you stop pulling the syringe when you see ink in the tube? This ensures that the ink is filled inside the printhead.

If the printer keeps printing blank pages after these steps, it is safe to say that you may have a dead printhead.

Maybe it is time to replace the printhead. However, the ET-15000 printhead is relatively cheap compared to a new printer. Although we do not sell printheads directly on our website, you will generally be able to find them through third-party suppliers or online marketplaces like eBay or Aliexpress. Then, you need to purchase a printhead compatible with the ET-15000 model.

If you replace the printhead, install it carefully according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Using your printer periodically, even if it is just for running nozzle checks or small prints, can help keep your print head from clogging and generally is a good practice to maintain sublimation in fully converted printers.
