Question: I bought a gasket set for the printhead on my Epson ET-8550, but a black rubber gasket is already in the slot. It doesn't sit properly when I try to seat the new silicone gasket on top. It feels too loose if I take the black gasket out and have the silicone one. What do you think I should do?
Answer:
Thanks so much for your question! I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I certainly understand that printer problems can be very frustrating, and I appreciate your patience as I determine how best to assist you. We appreciate your engagement, support, follows, and "subscribes," particularly on our YouTube channel [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies]. Let’s get into your issue specifically:
The gaskets you ordered (6 Thin Silicone Washer Gaskets (0.8 mm) are made to improve the seal of Epson’s OEM washers by sealing between the damper and the washer to stop ink leakage. This slim silicone washer set does not replace the factory washers but is an addition to them.
How to Use BCH Thin Silicone Washer Gaskets (0.8 mm):
Leave OEM Washer in Place: Leave the black rubber gasket in the slot. Please do not put it down. The BCH Thin Silicone Washer is intended to be placed directly on top of this OEM washer.
Check Suitability: The fit may seem like it could be better, but once you have it installed (in use), the silicone is highly elastic and can create an airtight seal even if it is not perfectly fitted.
Preparation: Before installation, the washers should be checked for any thin film residue from the injection moulding process. If there is one, carefully peel it using your fingers.
If you would rather demolish and replace the entire OEM washer (instead of stacking the silicone washer on top), the 6 Thick Silicone Washer Gaskets (2.5 mm) are perfect. The thicker washers are direct replacements for Epson’s OEM washers.
How to Use BCH Thick Silicone Washer Gaskets (2.5 mm):
Remove the OEM Washer: Take out the existing black rubber gasket.
Install Thick Washer: Insert a thick silicone washer (2.5 mm) into the right slot. The rugged construction offers solid sealing without the need for extra parts.
Roll a Joint: Ensure the washer is in place and not leaking.
Key Features of BCH Silicone Washer Gaskets:
OEM Fit & Finish: The thin washers add to existing seals, and the thick washers fully replace existing O-rings and seals.
Long-Lasting Material: The Silicone used in both versions is a high-quality material that can withstand repeated use in a printer and retain its sealing ability.
Tool-less Cleanup: These require no special tools, so they are easy to install.

Still, due to high demand, such services are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and it may take several weeks for us to get your printer in the queue.
