The Red Wire on the Replacement Printer Capping Station

I’m ordering a replacement capping station with an ink pump, but my original does not have this red wire. I’m unsure of where this part fits. Can you explain what it does and where it connects?

You may connect this wire to the remaining metallic portion of the printer’s frame. Usually, this is found bundled with the ASF motor’s ground wire, but you can use any substantial metal part on the printer. Ensure that it is well connected for grounding and avoid static-related reasons.
