Question:
I have an Epson R2880 that has been good to me, but I cannot purchase individual series 86 cartridges as they are discontinued. My other choices are a Continuous Ink Supply (CIS) system or simply refilling the same cartridges. I print an awful lot of black and white, and I like the combination of three blacks. What CIS system should I use & What do you use to keep from it clogging all the time? What inks do i need and do you sell them? Also, can something like dye sublimation also be done for black-and-white work?
Answer:
Many thanks for your question. All of us at BCH Technologies will be most grateful for your likes and especially for following our YouTube channel [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies]. This feedback assists us in improving our technical know-how and the service we provide to better serve our customers. So, how do you keep your Epson R2880 moving along if they end support series 86 cartridges?
We do not sell a CIS (Continuous Ink Supply) system or cartridges specifically for the Epson R2880. However, we have general CIS tanks compatible with all printer models. All the universal tanks will need you to pass through the Epson cartridge detection. You can consider these options:
Continuous Ink Supply System (CIS): Getting CIS installed can be an excellent long-term and cost-efficient option, but there are downsides to the CIS, such as clogging that occurs when the printer is not used regularly. Do not allow ink to dry in the nozzles to prevent clogging by using the printer frequently. They should also clean every once in a while. Regrettably, we do not hold CIS systems for your model. Still, these are readily available on auction sites (eBay, etc.) and usually include detailed instructions on how to fool the printer's cartridge detection.
If possible, you can choose to refill your existing ones. This is particularly useful for users like you who do a lot of black-and-white printing and want to keep the quality in the three black cartridges. When filling up, you need to utilize the best inks, or else the cartridge will surely be obstructed at some point. We have compatible refill inks for Epson R2880 at BCH in premium quality available right now on our website.
Ink Suggestions: You do black-and-white work, so pigmented black inks are safe; then, you choose pigment-based blacks, which give durable, sharp, and fadeproof prints. While dye inks are more susceptible to fading (especially when exposed to light) than pigment, they do not fare as well with time-enduring black-and-white prints. For the best outcome, we advise keeping to pigment inks. Visit our website to browse our black pigment inks for refills today!
Color Printing with Dye Sublimation: Dye sublimation is well suited for color printing; we have seen this a lot before. Nowadays, you only see it in applications such as fabric, ceramic, etc., but not if you plan to make black-and-white prints on standard paper. Dye sublimation inks are dye-based and can not achieve deep blacks, and in high contrast, an unpigmented polymer treatment is required to stain the fabric pigment-based photo paper printing. Because you like stronger blacks, sticking with a pigment ink system rather than using a dye sub will be best for you.
Printers are one home tech category you won't be able to solve from afar (someone has to buy the right ink). Though we have premium inks, cartridges, and such, we do need to troubleshoot why your clog occurs so often or whether my CIS didn't is compatible with the system. In such a case, we cannot and do not even try to provide specific remote troubleshooting or support related to printer repairs. For now, we still have ink cartridge repair solutions offered at our local facility [https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service], but please keep in mind that we are on a first-come-first-serve arrangement, and you may need to
