Epson XP-15000 Error Code 033007: Understanding Firmware Update Issues

Question:

My Epson XP-15000 is suddenly showing an error code 033007. I'm suspicious because I recently installed a firmware update, and now my printer is non-functional. Since it's no longer under warranty, I feel stuck. What should I do to get my printer's board repaired?

Answer:

Thank you for using BCH Technologies. Thank you for watching our video on the BCH Technologies YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). We are still working to improve our overall content side-by-side top-gear to support your technical problems.

Both are frustrating issues, especially after a firmware update on your Epson XP-15000 model, where you saw the error code 033007. Breaking Down What is Happening

An error code 033007 is a "Write Parity Error," meaning the printer mainboard failed. The firmware update tried to store new software in the Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) chips of your printer but found an error corrupting memory. In printers, EEPROM is often used to store important settings and firmware. It keeps track of system configurations, calibration data, and other essential information that needs to persist between power cycles. In the context of firmware updates, the printer's EEPROM is updated with new instructions that govern how the printer operates.

When an EEPROM chip becomes corrupted, as with the error code 033007 in the Epson XP-15000, it can render the printer inoperable because the firmware or essential system data stored there is no longer accessible or functional.

This renders the printer unrecoverable; it is now partially bricked and unable to use either version of firmware.

Well, What Happened with the Firmware Updates?

Epson has a known record of trying to prevent the use of third-party ink cartridges. I often see this as a way to get customers to buy officially supported products. But these updates sometimes do more harm than good, especially with older printers or non-Epson cartridges. At times, the updates may lead to errors like this or even render the printer disabled.

If you experience a board problem and recently installed firmware, likely that is where the fix lies. We have seen before where firmware updates return old issues. However, as you are not alone, some other issues started after the update.

Pro tip: Disable auto-updates, and that won't be a thing in the future! If not, learn how to do it here: Disable automatic Epson printer updates. https://bchtechnologies.com/blogs/blog/how-to-disable-an-epson-printers-automatic-updates

 Would this be fixed?

Sadly, there is no quick software fix to this problem. Because the firmware is in a memory chip on the printer, and that was corrupted, you'll need to replace this & write a new bootloader onto it. The system must be removed and the inside inspected by a specialist as this is not a DIY repair due to specialized need tools and know-how.
