Epson T812 Cartridge Not Recognized Firmware Update

Question:
Colloquially, I had a few new T822 and T802 cartridges I picked up from a thrift shop and some fresh new T812 chips from AliExpress to populate the cartridges for my Epson C7000. Until Epson pushed a firmware update two days ago, everything worked. Now, my printer refuses to accept any non-T812 cartridges. I have no OEM T812 cartridges on hand now, so I cannot test whether they are recognized by the printer. Is there any resetter for the Epson T812?

Answer:
Thank you for your question! We apologize for not doing this earlier. Given how vital printer problems are, we know how crucial it is to respond thoroughly and constructively to every question that gets into our hands here at BCH Technologies. We appreciate your interest in our content and might have noticed the boost in your engagement on our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies)! We use your feedback to make some adjustments to help you better and evolve our technical knowledge.

As for your circumstances, here’s what you should know:
Turn Off Automatic Updates of Epson Firmware
Firmware upgrades from Epson are often the source of such compatibility problems with third-party cartridges. Note: To avoid facing such issues to your printer in the future due to updates, follow our guide to disable Epson firmware automatic updates (https://bchtechnologies.com/products/how-to-disable-epson-automatic-update?_pos=1&_sid=7088828ec&_ss=r).

Reset or Chipless Convert
The chipless alternative is now the only way forward as resetters for cartridges like the T812 are falling into obsolescence. These solutions don't require any ARC chips or resetters at all. Some of the trusted chipless solution software providers include:

InkChip

  • InkChip offers chip-less software for numerous Epson models. If your printer doesn’t appear, it might be too new — check back for updates.
  • InkChip also offers a waste tank reset service, which is available here (https://inkchip.net/wic). You can watch their video here (https://youtu.be/sDsdLoaMX-w).

Check out this video tutorial (https://youtu.be/F78BuqBW22Q) for a step-by-step guide on using InkChip’s software.
We have used InkChip for our printers and recommend their services. You could also try the 10% discount code kevin9966, though the validity of this varies.

Cartridge Options and Alternatives
Transparent Third-Party Cartridges For Chipless Solutions: If you're chipless, try transparent third-party cartridges. They let you check ink levels visually, which the printer’s LCD panel cannot do. Check platforms like eBay for refillable or empty cartridges.
Older Models and Resetters: If you have an older printer that uses resetters, search eBay for “waste ink reset.” These are readily available and inexpensive.
