Follow these steps for when a printer stops moving and blinks red light.

Question:
I’ve been having a problem with my new printer. At first, it stopped moving, and the green light turned into a flickering red light. I checked the ink, turned the printer off and on several times, and tried a head cleaning from my computer. The display screen of the printer and ink levels show that the cleaning is mainly taking place, as the physical cleaning or movement of the printer does not work. Now, when I power it on, no lights (green, yellow, or otherwise) come on except when I press the feed button, which still works. What might be causing this, and do you have any advice?

Now, I'll go ahead and get to your issue more precisely.

Diagnosing the Problem
Going from the description you provided, it seems that the mainboard for your printer is not turning on but some features such as the feed mechanism which runs off a sub-board (aka breakout board) are operating. That indicates a problem with the mainboard or its connections. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue:
Back to Mainboard Connections & Components

  • Check FFC: Check all flat flexible cables (FFC) connecting the mainboard. Flapping or broken tether cables can interrupt power and communications. The FFC cable for the control panel is essential for the mainboard's functionality, so please take a look at it carefully.
  • But, if you find them damaged, you can replace them with Control Panel FFC Cable (https://bchtechnologies.com/l1800-control-panel-mainboard-9-pin-ffc-connector-cable/).

Check for Damage on the Mainboard

Inspected the Printhead and Cables

  • Inspect the printhead's FFC cables for proper connection and damage. In some cases, a fried printhead and/or fried printhead cables can also cause the printer to fail to initiate.

Reading the Error Code

  • When the mainboard is powered on, the printer probably reports an error for investigation. We also made a helpful video that shows how to access and understand error codes: How to Read Printer Error Codes (https://youtube.com/shorts/FPZzpyYuZLE).
