Epson ET-2803 Sublimation Printer | No Cyan or Yellow Ink Flow Troubleshooting

Question:
We have an Epson ET-2803 converted for sublimation but are experiencing issues refilling the ink tanks. Ink is not getting into the cyan or yellow tanks, and I’ve tried blowing a straw in the refill tank, but the ink only backs up the refill spout. It is not showing any yellow or cyan after doing a nozzle check. I checked that the yellow or cyan dampers are empty, but the ink cartridges report a full. When I took the hose away from the damper, it dripped ink when I pulled it out using a syringe. Do I need to change out the dampers, ink cartridges, or hoses? I also found these parts on your website — how many dampers or ink cartridges are in one order? Where can I find my printer repair shop in Huffman, Texas? I appreciate your help.

Answer:
Thank you for your detailed description of the issue. Sorry for taking so long to reply; I appreciate your patience. I know how urgent a printer issue may seem, and I’ll try to provide as thorough and specific advice as possible. We appreciate your continued support at BCH Technologies, primarily via our YouTube channel. Your responses are key to elevating our technical proficiency.

From your troubleshooting, it sounds like you have isolated the problem to the dampers. So, you've already ruled out the tank and the hoses, which is already half the battle. However, since you're not getting ink through the cyan or yellow dampers but the cartridges seem to be filled, it can hint a blockage or a failure in the dampers themselves. If the ink is coming out when you draw the ink from the hose, it means it is flowing; however, it isn’t getting to the dampers or the printhead properly. In this instance, replacing the dampers is probably your next move.

We offer used dampers on our website, which could be a cost-effective option for you. You can find a set of four dampers for $20 here: Used Dampers for Epson ET Models. These dampers may have slight differences in the tail, but you can modify them with a knife to make them fit. Alternatively, we also offer new dampers that may better fit your printer model: Side Load Color Ink Dampers. These dampers may require slight modification to fit your printer, but they are designed for better performance.

The ink cartridges typically come in a set—the four tanks in one package. If you’re looking to replace them, this should suit your needs. These cartridges can also be purchased through our website, either individually or as multi-tank packs.

According to the repairs, we don't have a physical location in Huffman, Texas. However, we do provide a full repair service through our diagnostic center, which may be able to help you out. This makes it hard to weave the strands together to troubleshoot everything with the printer, like providing color calibration testing, especially if a sublimation conversion printer setup gets involved. We cannot offer remote troubleshooting or repair assistance. We can perform a local diagnostic at our BCH Technologies Printer Repair Service [https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service] to evaluate your printer and make necessary repairs at our main office, but this is also on a first-come, first-served basis as we are currently backed up multiple weeks. We encourage using online tools, including our YouTube [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies], to search for videos covering your problem. YouTube also has a search function that provides helpful videos from other channels that might help you.
