Epson 1390 and L1800 Printer Carriage Board Bypass

Question: Is it possible to work around the carriage board on my Epson 1390 printer and have a direct connection between the motherboard and the 1390 printhead ribbon cable? My setup is shown below. Can this be done, and do I need to purchase a particular cable?

Answer: Thank you for your question and for reaching out to us! We are sorry we could not respond sooner. We know printer problems are often urgent and frustrating. At BCH Technologies, we take your questions seriously and try to offer the most comprehensive and considerate responses we can. Your likes and support, including our YouTube channel (BCH Technologies [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies]), help us polish our technical knowledge and skills.

To answer your question, it can indeed be done by bypassing the carriage board on an Epson 1390 printer. The positive is that your current printhead cable should be long enough to connect directly from the motherboard to the printhead. No additional components or changes to the configuration are needed.

Additional Notes:
Cable Fallout: Check the length of your current cable to ensure it has enough distance to run from the motherboard to the printhead without putting tension on it or putting it at risk for early death.
Connection process: If the carriage board is being bypassed, please ensure that all connections are secure and that the cable routing does not interfere with any of the printer's moving sections.
While installing, could you print a test page to verify that the bypass functions as intended and that there are no errors or issues?

Dealing with printer problems is complicated, as the issues tend to be physical. So, we won't be able to help with remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or printer service repairs. Our local diagnostics center provides our prescriptive in-person repair service (BCH Printer Repair Service [https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service]). However, as with our overall service, we are a first-come, first-serve order fulfillment type process, so your printer might take a few weeks to schedule a drop-off.

We have services specifically designed to fix an entire printer or some components, with clear guidance on what steps to take. But we understand that our rates might not be the cheapest. Therefore, we strongly encourage searching for self-help alternatives online.  To start, go to the homepage of our YouTube channel [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies]. Use the search function to the right of 'About' on the menu bar to search specific topics. YouTube's recommendations may also include relevant videos from different creators to help.
I hope this information brings you some relief! Once again, thank you for contacting us and for supporting BCH Technologies. We're here to help you. You can also find many resources on our YouTube channel!
