Troubleshooting Epson R1390 DTF Printer Issues: Printing Blank Page but Printer Functions

Question: My DTF printer, an Epson R1390, won't print images. After experiencing a printhead burn, I replaced the printhead and printhead cable. Despite this, the printer won't print images or nozzle check results. The printhead cleaning works fine, and all parts are new and genuine. I've checked for blockages and ensured the waste tank is clear. The printer is clean and all functions work. I've followed all advised cleaning and maintenance routines. Do you have any suggestions on what the issue might be?

Answer: Thank you for contacting us! We at BCH Technologies are grateful for your engagement and support, particularly with regard to our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). Your feedback plays a crucial role in further developing our technical expertise.

First, let's address the successful printhead cleaning. It's essential to ensure the capping station is functioning 100% correctly. The capping station plays a crucial role in replacing the shipping fluid inside new printheads with ink. If the capping station is clogged or not working properly, the ink cannot replace the shipping fluid, resulting in blank prints. You can check the capping station functionality through this video guide (https://youtu.be/RVtQLe2wTsk).

Next, you should inspect the F1 fuse on the mainboard. A blown fuse could prevent the printer from operating correctly, even if all components are new. If the fuse is intact, then examine the FFC (Flat Flexible Cable) connecting the printhead to ensure it is not damaged or improperly connected. Also, there are mainboards that use two wires to bypass the F1 fuse: they connect two ends of F1 fuse and move the fuse outside of printer, or just short wire it. It could be your mainboard was refurbished (if not 100% new) from them and the person forgot to check the F1 fuse.

If both the capping station and F1 fuse are fine, the next step is to check the driver chip IC. This component controls the printhead and can sometimes cause issues if faulty. Although I don't have a full video for non-members, you can watch a brief overview here (https://youtube.com/shorts/SHXNfwHVjvMhttps://youtube.com/shorts/jAyGdtkmQs4). For a detailed procedure, our membership subscribers can access the full video here (https://youtu.be/zooW2A9mPRM). Although the video mentions the L1800 model, the chip and testing procedures are the same for the R1390.

Addressing printer issues can be a complicated affair due to the hands-on nature of the problems. For instance, resolving a simple clog might involve advice on unclogging procedures. However, if the printer remained inactive during downtime, a comprehensive service for the ink system could be necessary. Situations like a "paper jam" can arise from hundreds of potential causes, and solving such an issue has become something of an in-office jest. So, we're not able to provide remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or support for printer repairs. We offer an in-person evaluation and repair service via our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Given the high demand, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis. So, it might take a few weeks before we can get your printer to drop it off or mail it to us. Our services are structured to repair either a whole printer or specific parts, with clear instructions on how to proceed if you opt for mail-in or local drop-off services. However, we acknowledge that our rates aren't the most economical. Thus, we highly recommend that you resort to self-help via online research. You can start by checking out YouTube or visiting our YouTube channel’s homepage (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). Look for specific videos using the search icon next to "About" on the right-hand side of the menu bar. I receive dozens of queries every day asking about videos for specific topics. Having created videos over the past nine years, it's challenging to remember every single one. Therefore, using YouTube's search function would be most efficient. Plus, YouTube might suggest relevant videos from other channels that could assist you.

Thank you again for reaching out to us, and we appreciate your continued support. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us or visit our website for more resources and assistance.
