Question
I have an Epson ET 8550 printer that I converted to DTF. After thoroughly cleaning and extracting all the ink, I reassembled it. However, it started showing an F1 error. I bypassed the fuse, which resolved the error, but now the printer doesn't print magenta and black colors. What can I do?
Answer
Thank you for contacting us! We at BCH Technologies are grateful for your engagement and support, particularly with regard to our YouTube channel. Your feedback plays a crucial role in further developing our technical expertise.
First, it's important to address the F1 fuse issue. By bypassing the F1 fuse, you risk severe damage to your printer in the event of a short circuit. The printhead, FFC cable, and mainboard could all be damaged beyond repair. We strongly recommend replacing the F1 fuse to prevent such potential damage.
Now, concerning the issue of magenta and black not printing, it is likely an ink supply problem. Here are the steps to troubleshoot and fix this issue:
- Check the Ink Supply: Ensure that the dampers are filled with ink. This printer model can be challenging to fill. Position the printhead at the capping station and slowly draw ink from the waste tube. If the ink tube is clear, you should see the ink flow into the dampers.
- Negative Pressure Method: If the above method doesn't work, you can use the negative pressure method. This involves creating a vacuum to draw the ink into the printhead and dampers, ensuring proper ink flow.
By following these steps, you should be able to address the issue of missing colors in your prints.
Addressing printer issues can be a complicated affair due to the hands-on nature of the problems. So, we're not able to provide remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or support for printer repairs. We offer an in-person evaluation and repair service via our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Given the high demand, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis. So, it might take a few weeks before we can get your printer to drop it off or mail it to us. Our services are structured to repair either a whole printer or specific parts, with clear instructions on how to proceed if you opt for mail-in or local drop-off services. However, we acknowledge that our rates aren't the most economical. Thus, we highly recommend that you resort to self-help via online research. You can start by checking out YouTube or visiting our YouTube channel's homepage (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). Look for specific videos using the search icon next to "About" on the right-hand side of the menu bar. I receive dozens of queries every day asking about videos for specific topics. Having created videos over the past nine years, it's challenging to remember every single one. Therefore, using YouTube's search function would be most efficient. Plus, YouTube might suggest relevant videos from other channels that could assist you.
Thank you again for reaching out to us! We hope these steps help you resolve the issues with your Epson ET 8550 printer. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us or explore our YouTube channel for more detailed tutorials and guides.
