Troubleshooting Common Issues with the HP Officejet Pro 8620 Printer

The HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer is a popular all-in-one printer that is known for its high-quality output and reliability. However, like all printers, the HP Officejet Pro 8620 may experience issues from time to time. If you are experiencing issues with your printer, this article provides solutions to common problems that you may encounter.

  • Cartridge Errors

One of the most common issues with the HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer is cartridge errors. If you are receiving a message that your printer is unable to detect the cartridge or that the cartridge is missing, there are several steps you can take to resolve the issue. First, make sure that the cartridge is properly installed in the printer. If the cartridge is not installed correctly, the printer will not be able to detect it. If the cartridge is installed correctly and you are still receiving an error message, try removing the cartridge and cleaning the contacts with a soft, lint-free cloth. Then, reinstall the cartridge and try printing again.

  • Mainboard Issues

Another common issue with the HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer is mainboard issues. If your printer is not turning on or if you are experiencing other electrical issues, it may be due to a problem with the mainboard. If you suspect that your printer has a mainboard issue, the first step is to unplug the printer and wait a few minutes before plugging it back in. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve the issue. If this does not work, you may need to replace the mainboard. Watch our video for a step-by-step guide on how to replace the mainboard on your HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer.

  • Printhead Problems

If you are experiencing issues with your printer's printhead, such as missing or faded text or lines on your printed pages, there are several steps you can take to resolve the issue. First, try cleaning the printhead using the automatic cleaning function in your printer's software. If this does not work, try manually cleaning the printhead with a soft, lint-free cloth and distilled water. If you are still experiencing issues, you may need to replace the printhead. Watch our video for a step-by-step guide on how to replace the printhead on your HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer.

Thanks for reaching out and for supporting BCH Technologies! If your HP Officejet Pro 8620 keeps reprinting the same page, the problem usually comes from the print queue or a communication error between your computer and the printer. Try these steps:
Clear the print queue on your computer instead of only pressing the cancel button on the printer. Sometimes the job stays stuck in memory and keeps resending.
Restart both the printer and your computer to reset the connection.
Reinstall or update the printer driver to make sure it isn’t a driver glitch.
If the problem continues, run a diagnostic tool or remove the printer from your system and add it back fresh.
We also have a full troubleshooting guide that covers the most common HP Officejet Pro 8620 issues on our blog at BCH Technologies: https://bchtechnologies.com/blogs/blog/troubleshooting-common-issues-with-the-hp-officejet-pro-8620-printer.
Printer problems can sometimes look simple but end up being caused by deeper hardware or firmware faults. That’s why we always recommend looking at the printer as a whole rather than just chasing a single symptom. If you need hands-on help, BCH Technologies also offers in-person services where we can fully test and repair your machine.
Thanks again for your support, and I hope this helps get your printer back on track!
