Replace Printhead for Epson WorkForce WF 3720 3730 3733 - T1881 Printhead & 702 Cartridge
Today, we will walk you through the steps of changing the printhead on the Epson WorkForce 3720 model. This printer uses a popular printhead, the T1881, so you should be able to find a replacement at a reasonable price.
As soon as you see that the printhead can move, shut the power off. You can do this by simply unplugging the power cord to free the printhead carriage. On the left side, you will see a hole. Use a pin to poke it, and as you do so, notice how you’re able to lift the side a little bit.
Now move to the right side and locate the tab. Usually, you need to leave that tab and push inside the little hole to remove the whole thing. At this point, you should be able to lift the entire thing. Just place it on the top of the printer for now. The piece on the front has a very long, thin tab that should come off easily.
You can now remove all three screws. There are a couple of tabs here to prevent you from just lifting the printhead straight up, so what you want to do is lift it a little bit and move the printhead towards you. Remember, the metal part of the cable is towards the bottom. To install, be sure that the serial number is facing you, and then flip it upside down, and then flip the cable upside down.
Insert the Cable
Make sure the cable is clean, and then insert it into place. Now flip the whole thing backward, so the serial number label is towards you, and the middle part is towards the bottom. Now you can put the left side cable back in place.
Epson has two little nipples as a guide to help you find where to put the printhead back. Just move it around a little bit and make sure you can see the nipple over the hole. Those two holes inside are the holes for the screws. The outside holes are for the guide. Put the screws and cable box back in their places. All done!
