How to Replace the Lever for the PE Sensor in Epson Printer Models WF-7720, WF-7710, and WF-7610

Paper jams are a common issue encountered by users of all types of printers. But, when a particular piece of the printer falls out, you may not know how to get it back in. This is the case when it comes to the lever for the PE sensor.

The PE sensor lever is a small piece of metal that is located in the assembly with a screw. When paper is fed into the printer, it will push this lever, so the PE sensor will know there is paper. Some people claim that you don't need the lever for the PE sensor to get your printer working properly. However, this is unconfirmed and not recommended.

If you need to replace the PE sensor lever, the first thing you need to do is remove the scanner. I have created a YouTube video to show you how to do this (see below).

Once the scanner is removed, you need to take the cover off. Again, I have created a YouTube video to show you how to do this. It is for the Epson 3640, but the same process applies for other Epson models such as the WF-7720, WF-7710, and WF-7610.Once you have the cover off, you will need to remove the springs. You can use a paperclip to make a jig and take the springs out. Make sure you remember where they go, as the bottom spring fits into a piece of white plastic. You will need four springs, and they should come with a set of five when purchased.

These springs are for the front page guard. If you need to replace it, you can find it at Printer Parts. They will have directions for each part.

Now, you can see a clearer view of the back. You will need to remove the screw on the top and slide the whole thing out. If you need to replace the black rollers, they pop out and pop in, which is another way to do it. To put the PE sensor lever back in, hold it like a pistol and insert it. There are two nipples on each side that screw into the hole on the top of the metal plate. Make sure the nipples go through the hole, and then you can tighten the screw. Once everything is in, make sure the page guard is flat and that each segment has two charges against each other. Tap the back to make sure they lift and come down.

Finally, you need to put the long lever back on the notch and use the hook you made to fish through the bottom and lift it to attach it to the top. If you are having difficulty putting the PE sensor lever back in, I invite you to watch my YouTube video for a step-by-step guide. I have taken the time to create a video to make it easier for you. I hope it helps.
