Here's how to install our continuous ink system on a Canon Pro 9000 printer. We're going to start with empty CS, fill it up with ink, and then try different wiring tubes. Let's start with something fundamental about this printer. The lid trigger is on the right-hand side. If you insert a piece of paper into the opening, the printer will think that the lid is closed. After opening the door and removing cartridges, you can see the three essential parts. One is brass pins for reading chips. Two is the ink intake. Three is a lever to pull up and remove the printhead.
Now we start to install the CS. Step one is to install the washer. We take a silicone washer, and we put down each of the ink intakes. It'll help the cartridge have a tighter seal and reduce air bubbles. The second step is to fill up the cartridge. First, you'll remove all the clogs from all the packs, and then you'll do them individually. Here you can see we finished four tanks, and now we're on the fifth tank, which is cyan. We'll fill up the tank first. Then we found the same corresponding cartridge and partially lift the orange clip. Now we use the left hand to hold the cartridge and lift the tank with the right hand. Now we look like the Statue of Liberty so that ink can flow into the cartridge.
Once the cartridge is complete, we'll reattach the clip. Now we'll put both the more prominent and the smaller ends of the plug back to seal the tank. Work one color at a time. Step four is priming a tank. We hold a tank with the larger chamber facing towards us, flipping them towards us. You'll see ink flow from the smaller chamber to the bigger chamber. A healthy tank should have a lower ink level in the small chamber and the higher level in the bigger chamber. Also, the tank should be set at a level so that the printhead is between the high and the low levels. Now we can position the tank to the correct level. Remember, do not put a tank on top of the printer. Now you can take off the smaller plug, the air plug from the chamber, and install the air filter.
Step five is to install the cartridge. Now we install the cartridge into the printer. Our cartridge lights up when the printer detects a functional chip, and the light will be steady if everything's okay. If the light is off, that means you have a bad connection, or the chip is covered with ink, or the chip is not installed correctly. Also, if the cartridge light up but flashes, it doesn't mean the chip's bad. It just means the printer thinks the cartridge is low on ink. Because you have an auto-reset chip, that's not an issue. You can just reset it later.
Step six is wiring the tubes. There are many ways to wire the supply tubes. We'll try two different mounting accessories. No matter what you do, you want to put a tube in the middle of the printer. We mark where we want the tube to be with a green marker and try not to let that tube be too long. Then we use the transparent clip to glue it in the middle of the printer.
A T-arm support clip can also be used to reach from the other side of the lid. Another idea is we glue a piece of plastic- you can use a regular ruler- to the printer and that the plastics take out the printer's edge by four inches. This method will work well for this printer. No matter what you do, just fix the tube in the middle of the printer, and that should
be fine.
The last step is to reset the ink levels. After a couple of 100 pages, we now have enough pages printed for the printer to display, "Ink has run out." Do not close this window and just open and close the printer lid, and the ink level will be reset automatically. You might notice we cut off a piece of plastic from the cover because we're going to put something weighty on the top. The chip will reset only on depletion. Now is the yellow one, which is far-right. That one is depleted and has a red cross on top of the cartridge, and that two have low ink level will not reset because it hasn't run out yet. Now it's reset.
The yellow one is full now. However, there are two warnings still exist on the green and the cyan. You have to wait until they are depleted. Then you can reset them. A couple of 100 pages later, you can see the cyan is exhausted now. Now we can reset cyan just by open and close the door.
