A Step-by-Step Guide to Refilling Large Format Printer Cartridges - See My Video for Details!
Today, we're going to show you how to refill the large cartridge for your large format printer, particularly the T604 model. Refilling printer cartridges is a cost-effective solution that can save you money on ink expenses. However, many people are unsure about the proper way to refill their cartridges. In this comprehensive guide, we will provide step-by-step instructions to help you successfully refill your cartridges. For a visual demonstration, make sure to watch the accompanying video!
Before we begin, it's important to gather the necessary tools and materials for the ink refilling process. If you need to purchase a refillable cartridge and tools, you can visit BCH Technologies and navigate to the Cartridges section. Look for the Epson cartridges and select the T604 model. There, you will find the complete cartridge set, including the priming tool, resetter, and eight funnels.
For the refilling process, you will need a funnel, ink, gloves, and a resetter. It is also recommended to have two kids or helpers to assist you during the refilling process. Having the right tools and helpers can prevent clogging and make the process smoother. Remember to wear gloves for protection, while the kids can assist without gloves and easily be replaced if their hands get dirty.
First, let's familiarize ourselves with the anatomy of the cartridge. The entry point for ink is usually indicated by a letter and the words "Refill Hole." This is where the ink will be poured in. Ensure that the cartridge has a sturdy case to withstand repeated insertion and removal. It's also advisable to purchase cartridges with chips, as they provide accurate ink level readings. The orange cap is used to seal the air hole and should be removed before use. Additionally, the ink outlet allows the ink to flow from the cartridge to the printer.
To begin refilling the cartridge, remove the refill hole plug and have one of the kids hold the funnel in place. Pour the ink slowly into the funnel, ensuring that no bubbles are formed. It's important to maintain a steady and controlled pouring motion. You can cut the funnel's tip for easier pouring. Only the person refilling the cartridge needs to wear gloves, while the kids can hold the funnel without gloves.
Once the ink is poured, allow it to settle in the cartridge. You can use a paper towel to clean any excess ink around the syringe. Afterward, seal the refill hole with the plug to prevent any leaks. When refilling, it's recommended to fill the cartridge up to a quarter-inch from the top. This design allows the cartridge to hold a maximum of 320 milliliters, but it's advisable to fill it with approximately 300 milliliters to prevent overfilling.
Next, let's address any air bubbles that may be present in the cartridge. If you notice air inside the cartridge, it's important to remove it using the provided adapter and a 10 mL syringe. Drawing out the air is crucial to prevent potential printhead clogging.
