XP-15000 Waterproofing Made Easy: Updated Printhead Guard Solution

Question:

In your video "Transform Your XP-15000 Into A DTF/Sublimation Machine - Step 2 Waterproof Printhead" (https://youtu.be/jh7Pi9MSlyU), the link to the protective cover guard shows an error. I also don’t see the piece you used in the accessories section. What should I do?

Answer:

On the protective guard for the XP-15000 we have fixed the link and also updated the design quite a bit. Previously, we discussed a two-part beta release of the printhead guard. These featured a larger guard for the printhead area which also included a smaller guard to protect the FFC cable. But we realized later that the larger guard might get in the printer’s way. We have therefore stopped offering the larger guard to ensure the best performance from your printer.

Instead, we’re sharing a new tutorial showing how to use silicone sealant to waterproof the area formerly covered by the larger guard. For the smaller FFC guard, we made some pretty remarkable improvements as it is critically important in stopping ink leak from getting into the printhead connections. We've now added two small guards (one as spare), so the long-term reliability will not affect the future maintenance of the FFC cable.
